Church of England no women Bishops

Church of England says NO to women Bishops yet the head of the Church of England is a woman.
It makes no sense to me.

The general synod of the Church of England has voted narrowly against the appointment of women as bishops.

The measure was passed by the synod's houses of bishops and clergy but was rejected by the House of Laity.

Supporters vowed to continue their campaign but it could be five years before a similar vote can be held.

Controversy had centred on the provisions for parishes opposed to women bishops to request supervision by a stand-in male bishop.

The votes were 44 for and three against with two abstentions in the House of Bishops, 148 for and 45 against in the House of Clergy, and 132 for and 74 against in the House of Laity.

The vote in the House of Laity, at 64%, was just short of the required majority - six more "yes" votes were needed.

I work with a guy that insists that women should never have been priests and says that if they were true followers of God, they would follow what it says in the bible. He thinks women wanting to be priests & bishops are just taking advantage of the social times.

I think there are women bishops. Its just they are so hideous they have managed to blend in as blokes.

Because it was voted by the bishops and priests as well as members of the congregation. Many women don't want women bishops. It's weird

But on topic, this should never be a massive deal. It's the fact that the bible is believed that women are nothing

Therefore women will never have a place in holy power and yet Jesus's mom was in a place of power way before it was discussed about women being in the holy positions in the future.

She is the first and yet all Christianity accepted her, so why not women general

I am as confused as you, it makes no sense to allow women priests and given that the head of the Church is The Queen of England who is coincidently a woman.

I guess they are stuck in the dark ages and burn witches.

LOL! Didn't know the queen was head of the church. What a circus act this is turning out to be, although, it's just been pointed out to me that she has no say in anything and it's just a title.

Basically King Henry VIII wanted to get divorced but the Roman Catholic church wouldn't allow it so Church of England was born and he made himself Supreme Governor and subsequently all other Monarchs after him.

The Queen can advise. The Prime minister (David Cameron) meets with the Queen regularly to discuss thngs its not like she has no clue what is going on but you are right in that she doesn't interveine and has very little power.
