Just Cause dev 'going next-gen on your asses'

Avalanche shipping back its PS3 and Xbox 360 dev kits

Swedish Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios appears to have switched its focus entirely to next-generation hardware.
Studio founder Christofer Sundberg released the picture of console dev kits above, saying: "We're shipping 'em back. Going next-gen on your asses." Last year Avalanche established a New York-based studio to focus on "large-scale, online-enabled original IP for next-generation consoles, handhelds and PC". Its main project was described as an "unannounced AAA title" targeted for release on next-gen platforms in 2014.
Hopefully an official Just Cause 3 announcement isn't too far off.

I'd rather they spend the appropriate time getting a kick ass game out at launch, rather than they either release a half ass game, or their kick ass game doesn't make it till year 1 has passed for the next gen.

That I can believe. I think it'll cost more to develop and promote the games come next-gen.

Loved just cause 2. The only game i haven't sold at all in my entire collection (besides cod4). Hope their next game has as much quality as jc2.

seconded. This gen has been prolonged and the lack of new hardware is killin' me. I can't wait to go to a midnight launch so i can get me a ps4.

Well this is a smart move by them, the sooner they can get their first game out on the next gen system the better it'll probably sell. We all know how few and far between the releases are for new consoles in their first years. Consumers will buy what they can get.

Smart move, then once they get used to the new hardware and have some experience with it THEN they can make Just Cause 3 even better

Possibly, but new hardware usually starts with known trusted IP's that will sell. I am willing to bet it will be JC3.
