I didn't mean to direct that at you specifically just in general. I don't have any desire to own an ipad so I don't understand why a 12 year old needs one. People in general have become too attached to these devises and kids that age don't need those sorts of things I think personally.

You cannot want what you already have.

I wouldn't say "need", other than they try and make it seem like that when begging their parents lol. My kids barely ask for anything at all. My son, won't let us buy him new shoes for school. He's wearing a pair he got two years ago, that are still decent. The same with clothes, etc. My daughters, they love getting new things. However, they never ask for anything as if the need it. Usually they are pretty specific about what they'd like to get, and why. I understand what you mean because I see a lot of that in other kids and families.

Brought my tablet to the holiday festivities yesterday. Set it down on the cocktail table and then went to the kitchen to chat for a minute. Came back and my 19 month old nephew had opened it up and had one of the playlists running...rocking out. He got lucky of course but found it fitting the topic.
The kids just mimic with what we dick around with everyday.

Personally I think the ipod touch is a great little device for kids, at the right age of course. My daughter is 10 it works a treat for her ,K9 is her web browser not safari. but as I say, she still plays DS. Here wireless gets blocked automatically at 8 o'clock at night, and she listens to all her music on it, and temple run get played a lot. Its fun device, but a ipad would be to big for her.

strange graph, kids that are aged 6-12 are interested in buying those items?? paper delivery must pay more than my full time job

Funny you should say that because my parents said the exact same thing about video games when I was growing up. It's just that it made more sense for them to say it since they weren't bombarded with flashy new consoles and handheld devices like the PS1 and Game Boy Color back in their day.

I'm 19 and my parents still stop me from buying game consoles/games and I remind them that I'm in charge of my own money now

Kids get brain washed by the media, they see 5 hundred ipads a day on TV shows, why wouldnt they want one. Doesn't mean they know any better and even if they got one they'd probably play with it for a half hour and then want to go back to their Wiis or 3DS'.
I bet if you added "Dinosaur" or "Pony" on that list possible things they could have the ipad wouldnt even be a consideration.Last edited by Alpha2; 11-24-2012 at 08:39.

Not surprising. The iPod touch is a great little device, and it is a great present. They can use it for music, video, camera, games. Easy to carry with, fully digital content and the price even though is not cheap, it isn't too expensive.
Plus you can always get a much cheaper 8GB 4G iPod touch for the kids that easily lose their stuff.

I feel old saying that. These kids these days, I'm 21 for christ sake! I just haven't gotten sucked in like other people have. I love my consoles and PC but I'm not all that thrilled with my Droid phone. Next phone I'm not sure I want to be a smartphone. I don't need to be so connected all the time with this thing.
Why get an ipod when you can have me?

Looks like a lot of kids are zombies, especially if they are craving i-products...
