Anastasia is my favorite cartoon movie.
I'll still watch others like Thumbelina when someone has it playing.
    (No judging me)

This reminds me of an embarrassing moment of my life...

Who's watched The Legend of Zelda cartoon series? And how did you feel afterwards?

My favorite cartoon of all time is Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was fantastic. It had excellent character development and world-building, with solid writing, music, and action. It's an example that all cartoons should strive for. The Legend of Korra is also enjoyable, but it's not nearly up to par with its predecessor. But hopefully the next two seasons rectify this.

In the past I loved Dragon Ball Z a lot. It was the $#@!. Well, up until the Buu saga, when Gohan became a nerd. Goddamn was that horrible. I also like some of the older classics, such as Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, and the Flintstones. The Disney animated films from the 90's were simply amazing; those go without saying -- along with Miyazaki's films. For the past two years I've been watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Sometimes an episode of Adventure Time will sneak in.

Growing up, I loved Batman Beyond, and would wake up early before school to watch it on WB Kids. My girlfriend surprised me last Christmas with the first season set, and watching it again I'm impressed by how well it holds up. The writing, pacing, and mood are all extremely well done. I don't know if they make cartoons like this anymore, but Batman Beyond was--and still is--dope. I'll probably be buying seasons 2 and 3 soon.

My girlfriend's show, growing up, was Gargoyles, and I watched a few of those with her--they're great.

For nostalgia I remember Digimon Season One being dope as $#@!, but watching it again it doesn't hold up so well. The movie that was released in the states, though, is still awesome; Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon kicking the piss out of that virus digimon? $#@!ing awesome. And Greymon kicking the $#@! out of that bird digmon while Tai and Kairi sit there watching, with the Digimon song booming in the background? God damn. I took a few peeks at season 3, which I missed growing up as a kid, and it's awesome--I mean damn, the ideas and digimon and writing in that season were easily the high-point for the series. It's a shame I missed out on it.

Right now the only cartoon I actively watch is Shin-Chan. My girlfriend and I will have pizza night every few weeks, and each time we order a pizza we put in Shin-Chan (we own a few discs), and the $#@!'s awesome. The first episodes were trying a little too hard, but a few episodes in the writers become confident with what they're doing, and it's all delightfully charming and irreverent. I love the characters and humor.

Then, of course, Dragonball Z. But that one's so closely tied to watching episodes with my friends, pretending we were super saiyans, sitting there remembering Gohan's lessons and trying to fly (we all did it), and beating the $#@! out of each other in any game we could get our hands on that no matter how well (or not so well) it holds up I'll always love it.

    Damn. I miss cartoons.

EDIT: I forgot to mention. I had no idea there was a Dragonball before a Dragonball Z while growing up, and when they first aired that $#@! on Toonami? Oh my god. I fell in love. Dragonball is awesome. It is happiness and youth captured in a bottle and suspended in mid-air for all to see.
