    PS3 YLOD-Confused?

My PS3 had gotten the YLOD(I think) a while ago; and I finally had the time and tools to "fix it"(as I thought). After doing the fix a couple times there had been no progress - it still won't turn on. Does anyone have any clue about how to fix it? Another thing; the light goes: green yellow green red - and beeps 3 times. I am also about to put blueray discs and eject them(I came to the conclusion that you can't do that with the YLOD?)

    Anythoughts?
    Thank you in advance

I've never seen green yellow green red... Is it green > yellow > 3beeps > red?

Dang.. that's a new one. Let's start by getting into the recovery menu and try to restore it from there. Also, check your video feed. Make sure the cables are connected, etc. Try on another tv if possible.

I'm not able to put it into recovery mode; although it looks like green->yellow->green->red, its probably just green->yellow->red. It turns right off just like the YLOD, I just find it extremely strange at the blueray drive works fine.

Yeah, it sounds too much like the basic gyr... ylod.

What have you done so far to try and fix it? I'm assuming by the OP, it's never been fixed..

nah, we're just getting started. Was the solder able to "reseal" when you used the heat gun?

There are a ton of links to try and go through this...

Google will give you an idea, and I'll add a series of videos that a friend of mine used.

dang lol. Might not be something you can do without a proper reflow then.

If I had access to a reflow station, we could try that.
