Yeah, it's a sorry state of affairs that a basic forum requirement (decent navigation) is missing. Especially when it's provided 'out the box' by the software they're using.

Very poor.

The same can be said about the sense of urgency in making the site easy to use.

I've come to the conclusion the duff navigation is to do with ad revenue.

If ad revenue is paid per page view, having naff navigation will likely mean you need to click through more pages to get where you want. Clicking through more pages means more revenue.

Sound plausible?

Sounds very plausible, i think you are right about that.

Could have the opposite effect though. If you have 10 minutes to browse the forum on you're going to get less browsing done in those 10 minutes.

I think they should bring back the Forum Tree/string/whatever the hell it's called that shows you what Forum/Sub-Forum/Thread you're in that goes at the top of each thread. As it is now, you have to go to the main forum and click through to get to whatever sub forum you want to get to, instead of going to the same sub-forum you were in directly from the thread you're in. Just seems tedious to me. Am I alone in this?
