    New monitor advice

I need a new monitor, I have been using this POS 15 inch 9 year old packard bell standard issue for way too long now. I did have a nice 20 inch Samsung monitor but it broke and I fixed it then it broke again with a slightly different issue which I can fix for about 50 quid but its still gonna be 4 year old if I do. SO I think its best to buy new.

I just scrapped my old car for 150 so something along those lines would be great doesnt have to be under or exact there is a bit of leeway.

    22 inch
    1080p
    120Hz if possible

I'm loving it so far. It was under $200 AUD (I forget what I payed for it exactly) but its fantastic

My monitor is pretty much along the lines your asking for but it's 23"
I think It's the Asus VG236he it was 300 when I got it but that was 2 years ago now so could be a lot cheaper

The response time isn't an issue. You fail to account for input lag. The benq has ~13ms of input lag. The dell has ~4ms of input lag.

So the benq will have ~15ms latency while the dell will have ~11ms latency. Not to mention the dell is an IPS panel (as opposed to the TN in the benq) and will have better viewing angles and color accuracy. Granted the Benq has an "instant" mode which basically halves the input lag.

If your budget now allows for a 221 pound monitor, so be it. But there is nothing wrong with that dell.

Viewing angle isnt an issue since I sit in front of the monitor.

    I dunno still confused.

Eiher way anything I buy now has got to be better than this POS I am using.

Your budget seems to be extremely low. I would advise you get some more cash and get this beauty:

Might just buy a new PS3 since I miss Gran Turismo and apart from AG2 every week and a bit of Battlefield 3 I rarely play games thesedays.

Bought the BenQ today and its fantastic in games. 144Hz with vsync on is buttery smooth and input lag is virtually non existent.

Got to setup the colour options becuase defauults are a bag of $#@!e all the games look very different to what I am used to colour and brightness wise.

Could you recommend me any monitor calibrating softwares? With the samsung settings i cant calibrate the monitor so that it looks good. My monitor calibration is set at its best but looks actually bad. Especially different shades of dark colours display horribly.

    Software?

You need certain hardware to properly calibrate your screen and that costs quite a bit of money (possibly more than the monitor itself)
