via VG247.BioShock Infinite will not have a multiplayer mode, Irrational Games boss Ken Levine has confirmed.
Answering queries on Twitter, Levine issued a clear “no multi”.
No multiplayer mode had ever been officially announced for Irrational’s new shooter, but as multiplayer is often seen as essential to a triple-A release, and BioShock 2 featured several modes, rumors of an online component seem quite credible.
In May, whispers said BioShock Infinite’s delay out of 2012 to February 2013 was related to ongoing issues with networking for its multiplayer modes. By August, it was said that multiplayer had been shelved completely.
BioShock Infinite is expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Personally, I'm glad to hear it. I don't see why it would need one.

Bio2 multi was my FIRST exposure to online gaming and my most played game because of it. (made it to 167th on leaderboard YAY!)
Kinda disappointed but this doesn't affect my day zero purchase

There were rumours that the planned multi was kinda like horde mode with coop. Gotta admit that was actually what I always wanted in a bioshock game. Buy 'perks' and weapons while fighting off waves (ala COD zombies)

A move in the right direction. I hope more developers follow this way, giving us a better SP experience and not adding some useless MP elements that take away from the game.

I have always said: if you can't do it right, don't do it at all. Going by that, Bio2 and Crysis 2 should never have included multiplayer.
Stable net code and hit detection are a must for a game to be done right. Sadly these two things were very poor in the games I mentioned.Almost everyone will say: buy console that has games that you want, and those who say otherwise are ignorant.

Playstation Move for the win!

This really sucks. I was happy when Bio2 had it included. It's nice to have options, since people were not forced to play multiplayer if they didn't want to. I am getting it anyway, of course, but really let down about this. I just assumed it would have had it since 2 had it.
However do you see a game that doesn't have multiplayer, get multiplayer, then have it taken away

As I don't mind if a game has multi or not, I have a hard time buying it brand new for $60 if it's a game I can beat in ~10 hours. I remember buying Bioshock on release, beating in a week, and then feeling done with it. The game was great, but once you experience Rapture the same thrills don't feel as great the second run through.
Can't say the same thing would happen with Infinite, but I'll probably have to wait until I can get it for $30 or less.

I already pre-ordered and had no expectation of a multiplayer component. I can't wait to playthrough that epic single player campaign.

Praise Little Baby Jesus!
My being an atheist probably dilutes much of the impact of that, but the sentiment just felt right. SOOO tired of precious resources in a very promising single-player game being used for obligatory multiplayer.
Shut up and play games
