Sony sold over 525,000 PlayStation 3s and 160,000 PS Vitas in North America during the week of Black Friday (Nov. 18-24), it has announced.
PlayStation 3 Black Friday bundle sales increased 15 percent, and total PS3 sales including hardware, software, and peripherals grew 9 percent compared to last year.
“We’re very pleased with the Black Friday sales results, especially the incredible reception for the PS3 and PS Vita bundles. The demand was very strong which quickly depleted our inventory across retailers nationwide,” said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “The PlayStation brand generated significant revenue and year-over-year growth at retail because of our focus on what gamers love most in combining amazing hardware with great games and digital entertainment.”
Additionally, Sony announced that sales of PlayStation Plus subscriptions have increased 295 percent compared to last year’s Black Friday, and satisfaction rates are above 95 percent since it introduced the Instant Game Collection earlier this year.

525k. Pretty impressive for the PS3 in the NA market. Vita sales not so much especially for Black Friday. Good to see PS+ being successful. Means Sony can continue keeping online play free.

This is off-topic, but am I a bad person for thinking that the new PS3 Slim is actually kinda sexy? I think I prefer it over the previous two models.

Its possible but Tretton is the same guy back in the early days who claimed he would pay 500 bucks to anybody who could find a PS3 still on shelves and there were actually plenty to be found and plus Vita sales have been very sluggish so pardon me for having any doubts. And with that being said I'm not saying for sure that Vita didnt sell out so no need to roll your eyes at me. I bought one at launch. lol

Half a million? That's a lot of PS3s.
And yes Rapture, you are a bad person. The Super Slim is ugly as hell. I miss my old Phat.

The Amazon bundle probably put the numbers up in a big way for teh Vita. $179 for $270 worth of "stuff". That was the best deal I've seen in a long time.

Damn nice PS3 sales for the US. It actually sold more than it did last black friday meaning there is still a big demand for these current consoles. Microsoft and Sony will wanna ride this gen for as long as possible..
Not surprised PS+ subscibtins went up tenfold considering they throw in 30 day trials in nearly all bundles now I think

Yeah and that. I think it does throw a prompt up to say you can, if you want, switch off auto-renewal
