I seriously doubt the part about 720 being 2 or 3 times more powerful than PS4/Omni or whatever theyre calling it. Both will be pretty close in power and it will really be about the developers. Especially first party.

The rumours recently were that 720 was SLIGHTLY weaker than ps4 (1.84 teraflops vs 1.4 teraflops). Now its suddenly very much more powerful? Yeah.. I'll just wait for E3

Pretty sure both will be 2~2.5 teraflop consoles

Imho, this sounds more like a weed-high wishlist than actual info, straying wayyyyyyyyyyyy too far from the previous dev kit leaks/rumors

The truth is Sony has trumped the competition with weaker hardware solely on the basis of its awesome game libraries in the 5th and 6th gaming generations with the original playstation being weaker than the N64 (granted the CD was a huge advantage, but actual hardware was less capable), and the biggest difference being in the ps2 and the xbox, with the xbox being 2-3 times as powerful as the ps2. Even if the Duranga is more powerful than Orbis (or Omni or whatever it ends up being called), Sony will still have the single largest talent pool in its 1st party developers, and I think that will be the biggest differentiator next gen.

If MS does take the more-power-the-better route, I expect their console to be $100-150 more expensive than the ps4. I don't think Microsoft is counting on a price advantage next gen, they're too busy trying to merge and expand xbox to go from just gaming to a multimedia center.

Price will be maybe, alot more important this time round than ever before, ms will want to emphazise value for money, and i expect sony to come in at around £350 - £400. Anything more, at least for me, is a big fat no.

Because in most industries having a lot of numbering is usually precieved bad thing. Its why most series usually stop numbering at 2 and have a subtitle instead.

Nintendo has never had a console with the same name and a number either.

Kind of hoping they go with the Playstation.

I don't know if the numbered thing has the same affect for me when it comes to consoles as it does with Movie and Game titles.

One reason is because of the gap in time that it takes for consoles to come out.

I mean PS1 was what 1995 then 2000 was Ps2 and 2006 was PS3.

Compare that to like Saw I-what is it on now like 15 which comes out every year.

Right... PS4 would be fine. IF it isn't "Playstation 4" or "PS4" (like they changed "Playstation 3" to just "PS3"), I think it the best choice would be "Playstation", maybe "Playstation Orbis" (PSO, or PS0 - playing with the "0" - zero, so then they could make the short name "PSzero" lol) if they wish to keep that name. Whatever... PS4/Playstation 4 is still my favourite.

At least keep "Playstation". That's the brand name, that's what has been there fore nearly two decades now. Don't take that away. What supports this is that the "Vita" is still called "Playstation Vita" by full name. Most people just say Vita, but still... it's a Playstation brand product. That's why.


Man do I hope that there will be a Darksiders 3 on the next Playstation... with awesome graphics like in the CGI trailers of Darksiders 1 and 2... Damn you THQ!!!!

We all know we will call it a PS4 in the end, because everyone will know it's a PS4. Not because it has a cool name attached to the end of it, because we automatically name it a PS4 when referencing it

It will probably offically be called Playstation 4 but only called the new playstation. Similar to how when speaking about it Microsoft has pretty much forgotten all about the 360 part of xbox in most forms of speaking about it.

The problem with the name being only Playstation is, it will confuse some people which model it really is and wether it is a new one. Also when solely saying Playstation its hard to understand why model do you mean, you only understand the console which is meant.
