We've seen plenty of timelines that put video game release dates in order. And recently, we've begun making timelines that put video game news in chronological order. But what about the timelines inside the games? The years over which the game's story takes place? Has anyone ever chronicled those?
Now, someone has. Alex Jaffe, specifically, who has assembled more than 1,200 games into an impressive master video game timeline that tells us, once and for all, when our favorite games took place relative to one another.
It starts waaaaay back with TMNT: Turtles In Time, which jumped the farthest back in time to 2,500,000,000 B.C. (and also gets pretty far up to the year 2100AD). Then, it travels through scads of time-travel games —Chrono Trigger doesn't even go second-farthest back—through modern times (with a lengthy digression in the early 1940s for all those WWII games) all the way up to… can you guess? The Warhammer 40,000 games, of course.
EH?

I wonder, how boring their life must be if they have time to do such things.

LOL! Dude musta saw the Legend of Zelda timeline special up at GT and got inspired.
I had no intentions of becoming a leader. It is as a warrior how I shall be remembered, but these are hardly numbers worth dying for.

Chart looks pretty lame with exception to seeing that bar on Turtles in Time (which I imagine scrunched up the graphics for everything else).
Seeing the text version underneath is cool, though. It's kinda funny to see the games put together as if they all exist in one universe. It's like before there was anything there were mutant turtles and time travelers, then some civilation stuff happened, then asterisx stuff happened, then way at the turn of the 20th century, Red Dead Redemptions happened, Wolfenstien during WWII period, Big Boss did some stuff in the sixties, Zombie outbreaks happened in 1998, then we had hovercraft racing in the 2050s, mechs in the 2100s and future Wars happened in 40,000 AD.
LOL that would be the best history lesson ever.Last edited by Bio; 12-01-2012 at 16:55.

They all exist in the gaming universe... But on different planets
You really have to be into gaming to understand why you would do something this big and pull it of..
Just imagine if he got 1,2,3 or 4 wrong in different parts of the timeline... He would have to either restart or just move a few or handful around

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge goes back 65 million years
During E3 I check out the booth babes, and if that's wrong...then maybe I'm missing the point of E3
