I tried to gather a list of games that I felt were good GOTY contenders. What game do you think wins this years GOTY?

These are also retail titles. I did not include any PSN only games.

Far Cry 3 easily for me is GOTY, story is 100% kickass as well as the content within the game. i am still exploring and finding out new shit. Honestly, they sure hit a homerun with this game. Also, the evil bastard with the mohawk that is on the cover is a bad ass enemy and I found my self laughing at things he says. nasty mean but funny.

His voice acting is so incredible! I absolutely loved him in the intro. The video contains many F-bombs!

Mass Effect 3. With the extended ending(which should have been the reg ending) EVERYTHING gets answered and it does make the choices you did matter. If you haven't seen extended then you really can not judge ME3.

Mass Effect 3

how could a game of this caliber (regardless of how you felt about its ending) finish anywhere but top?

I have to think all the way back to the PS1 when i last (illegitimately) cared whether a in game character lived or died. Whilst mordin and legion were my personal stand outs, no doubt everyone had a character they preferred to listen to; or took note when they voiced their opinion on one of the MANY choices the games' fantastic story gave to you.

gameplay from the first two was not stellar, but Mass Effect 3 did everything right.

if anything could be seen as negative it would be that they purposefully slowed the story down, coz when i saw the reapers attack earth in the opening sequence i wanted nothing more than to wage interstellar war on their ass's right there and then.

there is no game on that list as deep as Mass Effect 3

GAMEPLAY-On the higher end
CHARACTERS-Piss poor showing from every other game.
CONTENT- Multiplayer/Singleplayer interconnected. Deep Action RPG (ROLE PLAYING GAME)

I didn't choose Mass Effect 3 because I feel that Mass Effect 2 was better. And Far Cry 3 is just soooooo amazing lol.

Far Cry 3. Story is awesome and makes you want to continue, and its also addicting as hell. Played for 15 hours and it feels like time just flew by. For me, thats how you know a game is awesome.

played farcry at my cousins house. didn't like it. Devs went too heavy with the Depth of field. i hate when things are that blurry. it is at odds with the way i 'see'

i should probably add that i can't exactly ding it for anything, i personally could not play it. i imagine it is quite a solid game however

When does voting end? Its a toss up between borderlands and far cry 3 right now. But I haven't finished far cry yet. Want to complete it before giving my final verdict.

I voted for Mass Effect 3. Kick ass action, amazing story, and the first game in awhile that truly drew me in and got me hooked. Also I have yet to play many games on that list or am in the process as we speak (Black Ops 2 and AC3).

What I've never understood about GOTY not only this site, but other forums or websites it's always the latest title. Don't get me wrong Far Cry 3 looks great, and I really want to buy it, but a game that's only been out for 1 month compared to other games that were out for a whole year.

Sometimes the best games release around the holiday season. And sometimes voters choose what is fresh on their minds.

Here is the order of my top 3 games of the year.

1. Far Cry 3
2. Mass Effect 3
3. Borderlands 2
