Not really. Labeling him as mentally unstable is a perfectly valid assumption. Trying to say something about exactly what was going through his head is something I won't do and nobody should do, because quite simply we have no idea. Most likely none of us have ever been in a situation where those kind of things have entered our mind.

    But mentally unstable? Yes.

Something like this that happened, is an exclusively human event. You could take the most ruthless and efficient killers of the animal kingdom, and if you were able to explain to them what this person did, they wouldn't make sense of it. Killing out of necessity, out of protection, for survival, etc. is one thing. Something like this simply cannot be done by someone in a good state of mind.

Mate that is untrue the stable mind set part....

I still believe that you can not label someone mentally unstable if you do not know them

I call my bro mentally nuts from time to time and that does not automatically make him mental... Its just name calling as you know, they are just using a word that is common insult used to situations that arises... Like someone does something like runs around naked, you would say " Your Mental "...

Does not automatically make him or her mental, its just a word....

On this, he might have had some issues. But does that make him mental, no it makes him evil

That's not comparable. You're calling your bro or anyone "mental" is just banter, you're taking the piss, making fun of them. In those cases, it's just a word. They didn't just willingly kill upwards of 30 people, 20 of them being little kids.

I totally respect all your opinions on this and my comments and respect everyones comments on this and my opinions as well....

You wouldn't label your brother as mentally unstable because he wouldn't go into an elementary school, murdering dozens of people. Do you actually know the killer because it sounds to me like you're defending him?

A similar incident happen in Europe(involving little children) and there was a ban on legal ownership of guns. The magician is pulling the same trick twice.

I'm sorry my friend, but they are coming after the 2nd Amendment...

I completely agree that reactive policies don't work, but let's face it nobody wants to face up to the real long term issues because they require lots of money and don't yield any real noticeable trends for decades.

I prefer these reflections on the event:

    http://www.psychalive.org/2012/12/a-...hook-shooting/

It may make others defensive because this psychologist does consider video game addiction to be an at-risk factor for the child, but I accept how defensive we as gamers will inevitably get. I still think there's something to her argument as a Ph.D psychologist.

Of all my forum "life" - it's always mostly the North Americans that for whatever reason, get offended by being called 'mate'.

Tends to start unnecessary arguments in the Rugby forum I go to, which is full of Welsh, Scottish, Irish, English, South Africans, Aussies & Kiwis - all of whom happen to use the word liberally. And the handful of Americans tend to not like it especially when it's used in a debate.

Pretty amusing if you ask me.
