That's hardly the reason. Population or population density doesn't explain this. I'd hate to bring this up but its just a fact I can't ignore; all tragedies in america come from gunmen going insane in public. There must be something else at work here.

Actually, it seems to have started after columbine.

These assholes want to be remembered and go down in history. With all the attention the media gives them, I think that has something to do with it.

Also, why cant they just kill themselves, or the person they are mad at, then themselves. Or go to a hospital and admit having homicidal rhoughts.

Even more amusing is the fact that Americans seem to treasure their gun mentality in general while Europeans seemingly try to get rid of it.

Hello, I like to start off by giving my condolences to the victims and families. A group of innocent people lost their life that day over nothing. I am not from America but I would like someone to help me out here. How are the gun control in Connecticut? Is it easy getting a gun in that state?
