The fact that he's cutting a robot in half, rather than a flesh-&-blood soldier, is understandable from a marketing viewpoint, but I can't help but think of the "Samurai Jack" cartoon, where every enemy Jack sliced up with his sword was a robot (robot samurai, robot giant spider, etc.)

Pretty much what I expected, actually. Raiden on the cover (obviously) with a teal and orange color palette, cutting someone or something in half.

It definitely catches your eye.

This was mentioned in a thread months ago but I think it's worth mentioning here.

Aside from the really cool arrangement with Raiden looking stylish and imposing as ever while slicing through an enemy, it looks like this cover is using the Orange-and-Cyan Contrast design technique that has been extremely common in media covers for the past couple years or so. Even my recent logo designs and PSU sig/avatar abuse this technique and I didn't even realize it while making them.

I think it's because Orange and Cyan are the only complementary colors that don't associate to anything culturally specific, unlike Red/Green (Christmas) and Violet/Yellow (fraternity, royalty)...so they have the most versatility. And opposing colors (these 3 pairs) give you the best contrast.

Oh WOW, that's very insightful for you to notice that. I wouldn't have thought coloring would make a huge difference but there's a ton of blue and orange covers as you've shown. Interesting

The cover is cool, no doubt. But games really need some more interesting colours on covers. One of my recent favourites is Gravity Rush. You don't need blue/orange to be striking
