It's that time again, time to crank up the ol' Versus XIII topic
Since the release date is no where in site, they should port the assets from Versus XIII to this Engine. I ask myself though, why license the Unreal 3 Engine when they have this. Same goes for their White Engine or whatever they're using now

It took them half a year just to make that Agni trailer. It will take them an entire console gen cycle to make one proper game. Its a beautiful engine but it will be sadly underused. This is unless Square finally gets its shit together but im not counting on it.
When next gen starts i will give Square a clean slate and let them try to prove themselves but i just dont see it happening.Last edited by HellsJester; 12-17-2012 at 01:05.

They're already using it to the handle the lighting, if I remember correctly.

Despite Final Fantasy Versus XIII not appearing in any form at this year's Tokyo Game Show, project director Tetsuya Nomura shared some new details on it with Japanese magazine Famitsu. Apparently, the long-in-development Fabula Nova Crystallis game's lighting has been overhauled with some help from Square Enix' Luminous Engine, while Versus XIII's action is handled by another, unique engine.
More excitingly, Nomura said that he recently ran through the game's entire world map, as well as its dungeons/side quests, and he's "impressed with how expansive everything is." He also spoke to his other project -- Kingdom Hearts 3DS, or "Dream Drop Distance" if you will -- pinning its release to next spring, at least in Japan. So, um, get your keyblades sharpened.

It won't be releasing this generation. Square missed their window. More wasted time and resources from Square. I'll check in on them next gen to see if their producing quality games again.
