Japan ranks their favorite male characters from the Final Fantasy series

The official Final Fantasy forums recently held a vote to determine the top male characters among users.

The results are in, with the top five having been through a rollercoaster race to the finish. Early on Zack and Cloud fought head to head, but Zack’s lead widened in the second half. At one point Cloud ran the risk of being outpaced by Zidane, who eventually passed both Tidus and Squall. After a fierce battle, the top five had finally assembled.

Beyond that are the remainder of the characters counted with a total of 73 names that made the cut. Those with duplicate rankings held the same amount of votes, and are thus counted as a tied ranking.

The next poll will focus on the female characters of Final Fantasy. Read on for the results of the male character assessment.

Actually I was a little shocked to find Tidus in Top 5 with the way people in other places didn't like him.

Edit: Voice acting in Japanese probably saved Hope too just a thought.

Vivi is also one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters. I would have put him in my top 5, personally. Maybe even top 3.

I hate Hope with a Passion Him ranked higher than some others urks me as well. He was a bitchy character and I overall though of him as a weakling. His weapon sucked and I just couldn't wait to switch him out of the party as well. Hated using him in battle his ruin was a vitch to get to took me awhile. /Rant.

Oh this is just how I personally feel about Hope lol. I guess he was a bit more likeable in the Japanese release.
I found his English VA a bit annoying to even if he was the guy who voices Phineas in Phineas and Ferb.

edit: HOPE? Phucking Hope is tied with Auron?? LOL. That insufferable, bitch made cat is the reason I can't bring myself to try to finish FF13 at all. I haven't touched that thing in months, and have no idea where I left off.

I am not surprised that Zack and Cloud are ranked so high, considering the amount of fanworks by the female fans. My only gripe is why add Noctis in the list? Final Fantasy vs XIII is not even out yet. :\
