Nintendo Announces Wii U gamepads are region locked to the consoles

Recently several users that i have video chatted with have purchased additional gamepads via several sites from the u.k to japan and low and behold the game pad is region locked nintendo has confirmed this is because of the tv tech that is in the gamepad controller and the fact that it supports ntsc/j/hd what ever that means so if you where looking for a replacement controller guess what you outta luck

    Thats kind of lame.

But aside from a replacement is there any reason to own more than one anyway? Currently no games support the use of two right?
