I reckon the year for getting the through the backlog will be the first year of the nextgen cause the first year is always slow and there will be plenty of good current gen games coming out in 2013 to keep you busy enough.
Trophy-licious!

He can eat in Skyrim and have sex in ME3. The virtual iterations are comparable to the real life ones and should make a viable replacement.
I have more than enough to carry me over another few years if I choose. DUST 514 is going to be a solid staple for me and I can chill out on other titles at the same time. About 25 games is about 8 games a year for the next 3 years
. I think there will be more games announced too.
Released
Max Payne 3
The Walking Dead
Dishonored
Sleeping Dogs
Catherine
Far Cry 3
Castlevania
Rage
Skyrim DLC (lol)

Dragon's Dogma
Mass Effect Trilogy
Asura's Wrath

Haha I won't get through them all any time soon.
This will be how I ride out current gen a while longer though. By the time I'm through I'll get next gen PS for cheaper, with more games and less issues (hopefully!).

Awesome list!
My only question is what have you been playing in order to miss so many kick ass games?! Here I thought I missed out on a lot. I still need to play:
- Dishonoured
- Hitman
- Farcry 3
- Assassins Creed 3
8 years and counting!

I got tired buying all games at launch and paying €50. If I wait 6 months+ I can get 2 or 3 games for the same money. Max Payne 3 is at €20 atm, eventually the others will follow suite. I have bought Borderlands 2, XCOM: EU, PSABR, Persona 4 and Assassins Creed 3 day 1 over the past 6 months.

Buy Infinite Undiscovery (action JRPG) for the Xbox 360. It's the 360's best!
Also, my Steam Backlog is overflowing with over 200 AAA unplayed titles... Darn seasonal sales. lol

That's what I need to do. I spend far too much time sat at my laptop reading about games than I do playing them (I've played a ton this holiday though)
. I have a shelf full of unopened games for both PS3 and 360.
I might just burn through them all year 1 of next-gen, as was proposed here. Seems a pretty solid idea as the first year of a new console is usually dry when it comes to software.

Well atm I work full time and see my girlfriend multiple times a week so I don't get a lot of time to play >< Maybe like 2 or 3 hours of gaming a day, if that. I just don't waste time with multiplayer games anymore unless its playing with friends. Gonna take a week off in Jan though and smash through at least 5 or 6 games

That I do, its on my list and I really want to play it.
Its just a matter of getting it for the right price and having the time to spend with it. I'm reaching for exclusives I want to get the most out of my 360 so I've been playing some lesser known ones

Just finished Max Payne 3.
Playing a lot of stuff through steam with 360 controller and on a side note here this really felt like I was playing a next gen game. besides the obvious little things like cloth movements, lighting, destructible cover ect. were really well done.
looking though other peoples opinions it looked like it was a love it or hate it game and based on my experience with the game I fall more towards the love it side.
like i said right off the top the graphics were more than what I expected, on top of that the euphoria engine really adds to the physics and ragdoll effects
gunplay had tight controls and added with bullet-time shooting things always felt satisfying and never got boring
didn't mind the cutscenes, going into it i knew they would be heavy, being a story driven max payne game and really with the quality of the writing and voice acting*(for the most part) I almost looked forward to the story told from the way only max payne could tell it.
Soundtrack was spectacular, Rockstar has really nailed game soundtracks all the way back to GTA3 and really this might be some of their best work. Gunning my way through the airport and hearing that music kick in might stand as one of the best gaming experiences from this generation.
the only thing that stood out as negatives were the visual effect that looked like tv scan lines and the color/video separation effect... Over done and distracting
and about that voice acting max seems to have two people doing the voice work sometimes, really noticed it during the graveyard level in jersey.
don't want to go on too long but great game overall, really enjoyed it as a whole. You can definitely tell it was a rockstar styled game with the way it was directed but still did the Max Payne name proud in my opinion.
next up.. maybe Spec Ops: The Line. I hear really positive things about the game being story driven with issues of morality and how it can play into gameplay so i'm excited to see how that turns out.

just finished Spec Ops: The Line
The only reason this was even on my list of games was because I heard good things about the story from other gamers.
I remember playing the demo when it first released and being let down by the bland art, macho soldier banter, and sloppy controls..
And now i'm kicking myself for not giving this game a chance back then.
besides the somewhat bad controls I think the developers intentionally went with the slow start, bland setting, and "bad ass soldier" vibe early in the game because when you see these over the top colorful museums and aquariums it really makes you stop and admire the beauty of the architecture and design in dubai. And not that the soldier act is annoyingly over done but it plays into the powerful theme of the game that ends up hitting you like a ton of bricks in much the same way when you experience the realization of the role you play for Atlas in Bishock.
Sure it had its flaws and in some aspects came up short but this game is better than the sum of it's parts and the more I sit back and think about it the more I appreciate how well it all came together to leave undoubtedly a lasting impression.
next up Arkham CiyLast edited by maltrophstitan; 01-16-2013 at 02:28.
