So they've announced multiplayer for Tomb Raider. I wasn't expecting that! I mean I don't really think a game/franchise like this needs it. The single player campaign looks good enough. This is quite late in the day for multiplayer to be announced, which makes me think it's probably tacked-on.
Still, we'll have to wait and see what it involves. Maybe it's co-op play?

I can't imagine it being brilliant. Uncharted online was mediocre at best

I loved Uncharted's multiplayer with the added platforming. I hope they try something new and different. It might as well be co-op.
It's interesting that the Deus Ex devs are working on it, though their experience as a studio in multiplayer is unknown.

As Naxi said, Uncharted was quite a mobile game and the multiplayer benefited from this. getting around was easy.
From what i've seen. Tomb Raiders animation system seems too rigid to allow the same level of fidelity.
i doubt their offering will be anything to sing praise over. its probably there as part of a check list. which is a shame. i know i won't care for it. it'll either remind me too much of Uncharted online or be completely stood up by the Last of Us' online portion.

Too early to tell. They have yet to reveal any details.

I won't be playing the game. It looks awful. No imagination or creativity just popular features from other games thrown together. It is Tomb Raider in name only.

I'll judge it when I see it.
There have been bad additions of MP (Dead Space 2) and some good ones (Uncharted, Mass Effect).I talk to myself because I'm the only one whose answers I accept.

I'm so sick of multiplayer being added to single-player games that have no real need for it. I know why it gets included, but I'm still sick of it.
Shut up and play games

I had high hopes for this game as a whole, but after reading PSM3's last few previews, i'm very skeptical. It seems that the survival-based mechanics aren't exactly as I hoped, and rather than a sort of pseudo-open world setting with limited resources, it sounds more and more like Uncharted with a chick. Ironic, considering Uncharted was inspired by the original Tomb Raider games and labelled 'Bloke Raider,' but a lot of what made this game so appealing seems to have been either misinterpreted or thrown out.
As for multiplayer, i'm not into online gaming at all (I only play Tekken and Resident Evil online with my mates, that's it) so i'm hardly one to ask about this. However, if it offers something unique then that's good for those who enjoy this sort of thing. But to be honest, like the above poster said, i'm tired of developers adding multiplayer to largely single-player offerings; it just seems unnecessary to me.
Mass Effect 3's wasn't bad for example, but I could have left it alone entirely and it wouldn't have changed my opinion or progress on the game.

Well, I tried Uncharted 3's multiplayer and i sometimes still play it. It is cool and fast paced. But things are diffrent for Tomb Raider for me and most of the gamers above 20 years old. It is a legend but almost a ruined legend (like FF series ). So if they fail this time on SP, they will be cursed for sure since they are dealing with everyones fav. Lara Croft

There's some details out for this now - a Team Deathmatch mode that doesn't feature Lara (you what?)
A mode called 'Rescue', in "which survivors must collect med-packs and deliver them to various destinations around the map. Meanwhile, the other team – the 'scavengers' – must reach a certain kill-count. In this mode, the 'survivors' have a bleed-out time that can be cut short by dealing a melee finisher."
Nothing new then, but might be quite nice if the maps are decent.

This is very interesting. From what I've gathered it obviously looks like the new Tomb Raider is heavily influenced by Uncharted as seen with big set pieces and a more emotional connection to the character (Lara) than previous Tomb Raider games.
This makes me think that the multiplayer will be somewhat like Uncharted's, however, I would hope that it is more original and not a carbon copy. Tomb Raider was once the head honcho or action/adventure games so I believe that multiplayer could in fact revolutionise the series and appeal to a wider audience. After all, many people these days won't even touch a game if it doesn't have some form of multiplayer or co-op.
I will definitely reserve judgement until I have a chance to see the multiplayer in action but at the moment I feel quietly confidence that 'Thief 4' will have really explored the multiplayer concept knowing that it may be the deciding factor for many gamers.
Bring on PlayStation 2013!

I think this news sucks. Nobody in the world is buying Tomb Raider for online play. How about using that extra time and space for more single player content. It is just like Bioshock. Nobody wants, or wanted, a multiplayer mode in that game either.
