http://stickskills.com/2013/01/04/us...re-downloaded/Used Wii Us allowing past purchases to be re-downloaded
People who buy a pre-owned Wii U at a retailer will be able to download any and all games that the previous owner purchased with his hard-earned Wii Bucks.
So, “Wii Bucks” isn’t a real currency, but re-downloading games the new owner of the console never paid a cent for seems to be a reality. Our friends and yours over at NeoGAF were first to point out this nifty nugget of information, as one new Wii U owner was able to download Trine 2 and Nano Assault Neo for free.
Sound crazy? Well, it could be a case of downloaded games being attached to the console itself and not the Nintendo Network ID. The ID can’t be transferred from console to console, so the games just may be that way, too. That would be a pretty large issue on a console that’s releasing full-retail products digitally on day one.
Nintendo has yet to comment on this discovery.
!
this is a true flaw in the Wii U and Nintendo
hopefully they will fix this quick

Typical, Nintendo just had to come up with something to match Sony's Instant Game Collection.

I think it is time for Nintendo to start linking games to actual network ID's. It needs to be the same as the PS3 and 360. Because Nintendo has the online purchases tied to a single console, it makes me not want to buy anything digitally. I already got screwed out of all those classic games I bought on my original Wii.

It will be interesting to see how WiiU performs when next gen starts. If it was a current gen machine with current gen standard online architecture it would be OK, but there is so many backward and prehistoric things going on with that console and the contrast is only going to be stronger when Sony and MS role up. Linking digital purchases to the console is whack.

Actually this is nothing new let me explain.
the wii shop: in order to cancel your account with the wii shop you have to go to account settings in the shop and select delete account bad news no one does this.
the dsi dsi xl 3ds store: even if you format the 3ds internal memory your account is still there don't use a credit card on a 3ds.
the differrence comes in the store being completely reset when you do this the store asks for the wii/wii u serial number and starts a new account

I dunno why they just didn't do it the way Sony and MS do it, and just have your purchased items assigned to the account you purchased them with and not the console. Obviously it's a big coding task (or maybe not?) but the way it does things at the moment is just a bit silly

I bought my daughter a DSi off of Craigslist a couple years ago and it came "free" with $19 in games and $1 in Nintendo credits.
