Crysis 3 'maxes out consoles', says Crytek CEO, 'not even 1% left'

"No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I'm not talking about art style – art is subjective – but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I've yet to see a game do that still today.

of note, perhaps a clue of what to expect graphically on next-gen

The game is so technically impressive, Yerli believes, that the top-end work done on the PC version of the game will rival the graphical capabilities of next-gen consoles.

Crytek is a great developer but i doubt they maxed out the PS3. I'd believe they maxed out the 360 though.

Naughty Dog will max out the PS3 with The Last of Us.

Most crysis 2 footage was console. I don't know about 3 though, the new train yard trailer did look impressive.

While it definitely didn't run perfectly, some of the screen tearing was intentional. It was the suit malfunctioning. People seemed to mix that up in 2's footages.

but i have seen some footage of 2 and it run ok , but to say 1 is all out amazing. A bit wishfull thinking

I mean if 2 runs on consoles, why not show 1 running first

Crysis 1? It's on consoles.

Or do you still mean footage from 3? 2 had a big console focus in marketing, 3 has been more about bringing back the PC benchmark status of 1.

I have lost track now, how many times have the 360 and PS3 been maxed out? Must be a couple dozen times. Then how many developers continue to say there is still room to work with. Same shit, just different day.

If they can make it look better than Halo 4, then I will concede that it could be the best looking game to date.

Halo 4 looks better than Crysis 2 so I doubt that. I also doubt that about the PS3 since I think KZ3 looks better than Crysis 2 as well. But we'll see what Crysis 3 ends up looking like.

I agree with that IMO. But I think Crysis 2 no longer leads ever since Battlefield 3 and Halo 4 came out. I have to say Crysis is a good looking game that is boring as hell.

Personally i still think it holds the crown (U3 is it's closest competition for me) Halo 4 opening level graphics were insane but that standard didnt last through the full game...Battlefield 3 i'd need to play through again but at the time i thought Crysis still had the edge over it.

I think Crysis had a cleaner look to it, compared to Killzone3 - but that's it. From my memory I was more wow'd by Killzone than Crysis - that and the fact that I didn't fall asleep during Killzone makes me remember it more fondly than Crysis 2

Played Crysis2 on 360. Got it free \o/

The animations in Killzone were also superior

One thing Crysis has going for it is the foliage/ vegetation.
No game has better and more real looking foliage.

I personally thought uncharted 3 looked better than crysis 2 though. Hard to compare it with KZ3 because of how different their style is.

I bought crysis 2 just for the foliage. A tenna to look at some pixelised bush. Real bush cost alot more...apparently.

Real funny.

Foliage mixed with very good lighting and pretty good shadows overall make the game actually look pretty amazing. Many don't understand how important foliage is for a game to look more real.
