From the trailers, I can't even see anything that indirectly makes a tie-in. The architecture doesn't look remotely close to anything seen in Cocoon or Gran Pulse. Versus has an environment design that mimics present-day Earth and FFXIII felt more like a mixture of FFX and FFVIII. The vehicles in Vesrus have tires and appear grounded by gravity; the ones in FFXIII fly around on magical rainbow dust. The skies in Versus aren't like those in FFXIII, teeming with monsters and the flora aren't thirty times larger than the player. I didn't even see anything remotely close to FFXIII players.
Watch, it's gunna be some stupid 'tie-in' like, "HURHUR THIS FAL'CIE LEFT PULSE AND TRAVELED THROUGH SPACE AND TIME AND MADE A NEW CIVILIZATION ACROSS THE UNIVERSE!" (but hey, it's a fal'cie, so it's still FFXIII... just Versus.)

Im still excited about any exclusive title. COme on Square just give me this and Kingdom Hearts 3 so i can stop caring..
I had no intentions of becoming a leader. It is as a warrior how I shall be remembered, but these are hardly numbers worth dying for.

Yeah, they could market it as a standalone numbered Final Fantasy (not XV though as I would expect Hiroyuki Ito to lead development on it) but the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology is said to last a decade, so... =/

Square-Enix first created a basic mythology around the Fal'cie. Then the three initial Fabula Nova Crystallis games (Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy Agito XIII) were simply different interpretations of that mythology by each team.
Final Fantasy Agito XIII abandoned the mythology apparently, which is why the name was changed to Final Fantasy Type-0.
But yeah, I don't think the stories will be directly related. Just different interpretations of how the Fal'cie work within each respective universe.

I am but it's getting harder everyday that goes by. It seems Square isn't worried about by not acknowledging its existence. They don't seem to even hint that it's coming by bringing basically no info for quite sometime. I'm ready but I don't know if we will see it this gen.

The only gameplay we've seen looked clunky and dull. The pretty graphics didn't hide that. So no, until something interesting outside of speculation appears, I'm not too interested.

The ONLY way I will ever be excited for a Final Fantasy game, would be if they announced a VII remake. So basically my answer is no.

Well ... FFXIII was okay ... it wasn't horrible though. But each new addition after that just got worse. This new latest FFXIII-2 game that's coming out now looks even worse than FFXIII-2 (I bought it full prize, and it was alright, but personally think it was worse than FFXIII).

I have lost all hope with it. Only thing that will bring me back is a PERFECT trailer and release date at E3 this year.

No, i haven't played a single "next gen" jrpg thanks to square. (hoping to change that with ni nu kuni). V13 was announced what? 7 years ago when the ps3 came out if not before? hell we are already getting rumors on a ps4 and this game hasn't released yet. so no, not excited at all.
