I also agree with LfCpS3 that they need to ditch the tray loading, both Sony and Nintendo use a slot loading drive and I would think the slot loading ones are more durable than the tray drives since the gears in those can easily become stripped and the tray can easily be broken off.

True, but only to get the cost cheaper on their end, they did the same with the PS2 slim. But for a launch console, slot loading all the way!!!

Well considering how MS likes to keep it fresh with dashboard updates I would guess a revamped dashboard.

I like the notification system on the 360. However, I do wish it was more like the PS3's notification. The 360 version looks too, hmm....cartoonish? I mean, I like how they give developers the choice of 8 locations for the notifications to appear. But I like the professional look of the PS3 notification. So something like that maybe with a little transparency, AND, keep the same sound....AND give us the option to allow "user has gone offline" notifications.

While i do not like it that much, it is still better than a tray popping out in the way of the 360. One of those small things that annoy me ( which I don't think others care about)

I really do hope SONY/MS dont have a disk tray or what we see on the super slim.

While I hope the Xbox 3/PS4 have a slot loader, I understand they can pass the cost savings on if they go with a pop out/top load system instead, garnering more sales.

Then again, I hope they don't even use legacy optical disks. Oh well, one can dream.

The one thing the Original Nintendo Wii got right was their slot loading mechanism in that system, it is so incredibly quiet and smooth, totally blows away any slot loading electronics that I have ever come across! It will be a sad day if Sony or Microsoft use a tray or top loading design in their next system, they needs to both go with slot loading and I have a feeling this will be the last generation of disc media, with the way flash media prices have been dropping and the speeds have been improving, I could see this becoming the future for PS5 and beyond! (if there will be a PS5 since Gaikai will be able to stream pretty much anything to the console)

I'll wait to see the launch game offering before I "jump in" but will have my wallet ready either way!
