http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/09/microsoft-and-samsunga Microsoft Research project called Illumiroom that uses a Kinect for a Windows camera combined with a projector. It apparently "uses the appearance and the geometry of the room (captured by Kinect) to adapt the projected visuals in real-time without any need to custom pre-process the graphics.

This is really cool. I remember seeing this patent. I'd want it to project at least a reasonably clear image though. The vid kinda made it look distorted some times (I know it's a concept vid but still).

It is pretty awesome, something i will use ( it can maybe be used for the peripheral vision, that would be epic).
I don't get how kinect is able to do that, does it need a projector or something? Very weird.
Do i see myself using it a lot, probably not but it is better than the other stuff, like 3D.

This would be cool but how will they deal with differing colors on walls? A lot of that wouldn't project well on dark colored walls.
It's funny that in this day in age people can steal as long as they have a reason too. Even if that reason is created by the thieves themselves.

Its not really realistic guys, its pretty cool, but think about it.
First you need the kinect sensor to be facing the wall you projecting on to.
Next you also need a projector facing that wall in the same location.
The only way it would work is some sort of combined projector/kinect sensor all built into one, attached to the roof or on your coffee table.

Hang on a tick, its samsung as well, well in that case, yes I can see Samsung incorporating kinect tech into a projector.
The trick for the xbox would be dual output.

If Samsung had a projector that did it, then it could work, but the Xbox would be just an added feature.
A projector like this would allow you to project onto any distorted surface perfectly for any source.
The xbox would simply supply a 2nd graphics output for the game, projector would do the rest.

The first( Project Natal ) concept videos come to mind instantly when watching this, but for this idea to work best the area around the TV should be blank white wall.
