I think this TV will be very suitable for PS4. As we can see, Sony has braught a smaller TV that will feature 4K and OLED rather than the 84 inche. But I don't no what the price of this TV will be?![]()

Everybody is referring to this 4K feature. By saying 4K you mean the resolution is 4K or what?
-
01-10-2013 #7
@Cybertox, yeah res being 4096×2160
@Op, since having a phone with OLED and Vita which uses OLED - I dream of having a big ass TV with OLED
. Unbeatable
Will probably be affordable in a few years I'd imagine

LOL are there even games or any films out yet which support such a resolution?
-
01-10-2013 #10
I'm no expert lol, but I've read that majority of films are captured in 4k res, if not, in 2k, which can be up res'd to 4k nicely
Games, no. But (unless this was in my dream), I think Sony showed GT5 running @4k res on a huge TV, powered by multiple PS3s
I think it's mainly a movies thing though

Those which you download or get on a blue ray are maximum 1080P. Never encountered 4K movies.

They want to compete in another product market, in the more high end one with more income, its risky but their only option as they have no chances against others like Samsung in the middle range tv products market.

Make sense but if they wanted to compete on the lower end they would have an advantage just by using the "sony" brand name. However I can understand why they wouldn't want to associate the "sony" name with low end TV's.

Nah they have Sony tvs for every range (I think this is set to change though, with a focus on high end mainly) but they are unable to price competively due to manufacturing costs and of course the strong yen, compared to the Samsung, LG, etc. They basically lose more and more by just keeping a footprint or awareness in those lower and mid markets. Same case for other Japanese electronic companies
Higher end not so much as they can really differentiate their products and the kinds of people in that market are mostly looking at product spec sheet rather than price tagsLast edited by Nitey; 01-10-2013 at 15:53.

We don't even have a lot of 1080p games (on console) so 4k is shove it. I don't really care about that. OLED looks awesome though. Can't wait till they'll be affordable in couple of years.

I am very excited that they finally have OLED TV's coming out, I am hoping the price drops quickly! As for 4K sets, while the picture does look awesome, I am not as excited for it since there is very little content out there in that format! I am still waiting for channels to go 1080p let alone 4K...and the fact that I don't see people re-buying their blu-ray collection after they just re-bought it recently from DVD doesn't leave me with high hopes! I can't wait to have a crazy thin, beautiful looking, power sipping OLED mounted on my living room wall though, next set will be a 84-90" that I upgrade to!
