Yeah same here. I would be quite bummed if that happen. No more reasons to delay yet another game!

My only complaint is that it looks a little dark. :/

Gameplay models are really nice though. Imagine what the cutscenes will look like.

It's a lovely looking game regardless of any up scaling, but I think the biggest problem will be the faces (during dialogue, really). They looked strange 10 years ago and they will probably remain that way. A minor complaint.

Between HD remakes of old games, repairing FFXIV and three iterations of FFXIII this generation, who is left to make games I actually want? Versus.. I don't give a flying shit what Square Enix does until Versus is on shelves. They are dead to me.

A bunch of people have a bad taste in their mouth with the way SE handled this gen. They are a shell of their former selves for sure. They seem like they have just completely ignored their fans this gen. It's never a good thing to piss off the people that pay your bills. Hopefully they will learn some lessons from this gen and improve on that next gen. Then they can get back to their usual dominant form. They have a long way to climb to get back to that point though.

I think all current footage of Versus has been a clear indication that it wasn't ready. Not even conceptually. When we see it again it will be extremely different.

It's never a good thing to piss off the people that pay your bills.
They gave a free year of FFXIV to their player base and remade the entire MMO. As for FFXIII, that seems to be rolling in the money just fine.

Square has made some shitty iOS games, though. But who hasn't at this point? lol

I've never been a hardcore SE fan so it's not a problem for me overall. Would I have liked to see more than just the FFXIII saga this gen. Yes but I enjoy the games a good bit. They just seemed to ignore their core fans.

Good to see some progress. Would personally like to see this release sooner than later, but at this point I've already started playing X again. Unfortunately, don't see me buying this now.

Are there really "core" Final Fantasy fans when each one you talk to has extremely militant views on the franchise?

There are two different versions and one version has dark summons which have millions and millions of HP while the other version doesn't have any of that. If it has dark summons I will get it, but if it's the normal version I wont since I already played that. I want to fight those dark summons. lol

There's people like me who've been playing the series for over a decade who have played all of the older games and usually try every game that comes out. Not saying I like or have beat every game but I'm not one of those nazis who are always nitpicking on linearity or have this extreme list of what's the best and what's pure shit or anything.

I consider myself a core Final Fantasy fan, I have remained a big supporter over the years. People call XIII a bad game, when in realty it is still a very good game...just different from the others.

I'm pretty militant in that I don't think the so-called real Final Fantasy fans should ask for a remake of their favorite title that they continuously praise 24/7. A proper remake would be to recreate a game that had problems worth addressing (Final Fantasy XIV). But no, let's just assume the general public has never seen something like Final Fantasy VII before so that they can repeat the success.

You don't hear that very often from core FF fans. I like them too.

I wouldn't say S-E ignored their core fans. I just think they made poor games. FFXIII and FFXIII-2 weren't anymore casual than previous entries. They just had terrible writing, while FFXIII also had repetitive pacing.

I'm and foremost truly love the Final Fantasy Franchise no matter what's the issue. I really don't mind what's their style as long as they don't lose elements that made them. Despite the criticisms on FFXIII, they're still good games. And I've seen people talking about an FFVII remake, now can they define me "remake"? For me, if I wanted to play this new FF7. I'm hoping that's exactly how it used to be in gameplay aspect. When hearing about remaking FF7, I just want to see better graphics that's all. I don't mind if its FF8 and FF9 or even X.

Nintendo has done a very good job in that with their classic titles.

I agree. Those games wouldn't have sold half as well without the FF title, there's been far superior JRPGs this gen that deserved those sales. I'm a fan, but not a fanboy and wouldn't buy a game just because of the title (didn't bother with XIII-2, won't bother with any future XIII related game either), I'll just wait for XV to give them another chance with a new cast of characters, story, world etc. but tbh it's mainly Namco and Level-5 that's getting my money these days.
