Cheers for the congrats everyone, all of us here on the staff work extremely hard so as Managing Editor of PSU.com, i'm thrilled that we have been rewarded with something like a back-of-box quote.
This is the second time, I believe; the first was for the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare back in 2007.

@Blacksite:
Are you talking about Call of Duty 4? If so, nope, it's the North American box art. It's more of a site reference than a quote, but still, not a bad game to appear on!
DmC is the U.K. version though, yes. It's our 'Best of E3' award.

So, what is the fan reaction like to this game? Are the fans still obsessing over Dante's new look/haircut? Saying that he is now emo? If he is emo, I don't know what that makes 'Old Dante', with his silver curtains.
Just wondering, because I found it hilarious to see fans reaction to this game as opposed to MG: Revengeance, both considered to be pretty much spin off titles.
This was before anyone saw much gameplay, which was funny. Now if the gameplay is bad and people are still whining, that's fine.
I just want to know what their stance on the game is now that it's out. I saw on metacritic that the average user score is 4.1 but well, you never know with metacritic users. These are the same people who gave Mass Effect 3 a 0 because they didn't like the ending.
I probably won't be playing the game either way, i'm just interested in it as a sort 'social study'.

I never understood the emo/hipster complaints on Dante's new character design. If anything, he looks like a regular punk kid. Anyways, I haven't played the full game, only the demo. I didn't enjoy the gameplay or writing but I know other people who have and that's fine. Some games aren't for everyone.

Very true. I am just wondering what the stance is now from the people who were SOOOO upset because the main character looks a little different. I am wondering if they are still upset about that and end up criticising everything about the game, such as the gameplay, or if the gameplay is a genuine step down from earlier titles.
From what I gather, people either love or hate it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The general reception is that some of those who initially expressed negativity toward the reboot direction had a change of heart to some degree. When you compare the reactions back when it still far from release to now (post-release), it's a more of an even split than it was before.
For one thing, NT toned down the redesign a bit (Dante doesn't smoke anymore, less lanky, redone hair/face) and further information revealed more consistency with the old games than what may have been expected (mainly in gameplay). Secondly, much of the gaming community is well-known for getting rather carried away by the threat of change in tradition anyway, so this is fairly normal. Remember when a major Final Fantasy went multi-platform for the first time since pre-PS1? Many people went nuts over that.Last edited by Bio; 01-22-2013 at 19:33.

Good points. It's hard to remember that gaming, even if plenty of older people play it nowadays, is still mostly a teenagers hobby, so it's hard to expect any sort of balanced perspective from some gamers.
Haha yes I remember the FF deal. I remember thinking that it may be bad for the franchise in the long run, but I never let it get to me like some people did.

Didn't a majority of reviews praise this game.... like almost everyone of them? I thought that typically happened with good games like DMC. Because make no mistake about it, this game is good.
It's a matter of perspective. "Technically" it's not the same Dante. Which is and of itself another thing old fans have a problem with. This game is set in a different "universe" as it were.
As for the demo, I disliked the gameplay I only purchased this game because the boss fight that was included was fun, and as it turned out I was pleasantly surprised. The game is a lot more solid than the demo would lead you to believe. Do yourself a favor and at least rent this game. If NT is good at anything it's making phenomenal good looking games at the very least. Worth the 2 dollar a day charge from a Red Box.Last edited by Tribunal; 01-24-2013 at 06:31.
