Content related to future movies to be stored on Disney Infinity disc.
Earlier this week, VideoGamer.com revealed that a new version of Disney Infinity is due to be released every year, with each new version containing the data required for the following 12 months' worth of content.
However, some of that content, Disney tells us, could be related to future or unannounced movie releases, and therefore open to being exposed by hackers data-mining the disc.
"That's something that we've made the film-makers aware of," Disney Infinity's executive producer John Vignocchi tells VideoGamer.com.
"There's absolute potential that people are going to see characters prior to their PR campaigns kicking off if someone does that, but we're hoping that isn't something that is widespread reported because then people are going to start looking for it, and it's going to ruin the magic for the consumer."
Including the data on-disc seems a tremendous risk for Disney, but given the limitations of the current consoles, the publisher suggests, a necessary one.
"In the future, as we move on to new versions of consoles we're going to be able to digitally deliver that content, and the figurines themselves will simply be dongles that allow us to then instantiate a download of that content.
"But given the current generation of consoles, the content needs to be on the disc. But in the future we'll be able to push all that digitally so we don't run into that problem."
Vignocchi claims that the risk is similar to the one Activision faced with Skylanders
.
"There was the Empire of Ice and all of those different expansion packs that they had that were on the disc," he says. "Thankfully they didn't run into that risk. We might. Who knows."
But with multiple high-profile properties under its belt, including Star Wars and Marvel, it seems incredibly likely that hackers will be looking to Disney Infinity to learn as much about Disney's future plans as possible.
Disney Infinity is due for release this June on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U and 3DS, and could mean the end of standalone movie games from Disney.
So a warning

That's why you don't just copy and paste a title like a spam bot.
