Ok thought i would see who actually cares for next-generation consoles and why you really care and think it's a really big deal
Me i do not care really, it is just an update to the system current consoles and i believe not really that much power will be added to make them any better than the one's we have now
With all the rumors on the spec's each next-gen console might have, i have lost all interested in being excited at all
I feel that all this spec rumor and which is more or less powerful than the other... Just makes it a joke to be excited at any point at all
So i am going to conduct a poll to see if you are really excited and is it a really big deal now
They are not consoles anymore, they are just media boxes and lost that console experience that gaming of old had and the constant updates and DLC's that are sometimes extremely pointless
And also, were and what can we do with the new Media boxes, that we can not do with the current one's.
With SONY and MICROSOFT only in competition with each other, it really is a small market after all in the MEDIA market
These New Next-GEN MEDIA BOXES are what i said MEDIA BOXES and not gaming consoles anymore

I'm always interesting in new things especially when it comes to gaming, so to answer your question: yes I do care about next gen, just as I always am. Doesn't necessarily mean ill go out and buy a ps4 on release day but I'm definitely looking forward to more and more new information about th next generation of video gaming.

I voted for stupid poll. But just cause the option was there.

But honestly I would say, no. I don't have the money to pay for the next gen stuff, so it doesn't concern me./UPSET THE ESTABLISHED ORDER AND EVERYTHING BECOMES CHAOS\

I care. I'm just not buying anything for a year or two.
I have no problem with the direction Sony is going in if they pick up where the ps3 left off as far as games and where the vita left off as far as easy to use powerful tech.
OS, apps and such isn't a big thing for me. There's going to be nothing "must have" for me. I'm sure they'll keep the features that are found in the ps3 and psvita and will build on top of them. I'll occasionally use the netflix app and use the psn store.
Besides that, looking at what Sony's 1st party devs can pull off on the ps3, I'm very excited to see what can be done on stronger easier tech. Better A.I., graphics, environments. I'm ready to see the ps4 revealed.

I lost interest in console gaming two years ago and I can't imagine there being a game that would force me to drop however many hundreds.

If we never had new generations of gaming system we would still be playing this:

Now if PS3 & Xbox360 were only 2-3 years old, then I wouldn't feel it was time, but if they come out this holiday season that will be the PS3 and 7 years old and the Xbox360 at 8 years old, which would be one of the more long lived generations to date! I feel we are starting to hit a wall on visuals this generation, and while visuals alone don't make a game, they do help tremendously! I am ready for the next gen systems and can't wait to see what they bring to the table when they are officially announced! Hopefully both systems will be easy to develop for so we can have some great 1st & 3rd party titles that just blow us all away!

I'm interested but I'm probably going to buy a PC for EVE Online before I grab a PS4. I'll wait for retail price drops and a larger selection of games. I'll jump as soon as DUST gets ported

Creativity as a whole is in a trough, and I am one to truly believe the current hardware is part of the problem if not the problem. PS360 were half baked, and at this point it should be pretty clear to even the most ravenous of fanatics that software optimization wizardry only works as far as the hardware allows. The new consoles can't come fast enough for me. Besides the way devs are doing things now PC gaming is suffering because all anyone can be bothered with doing these days are ports

well i am keeping this poll open until i get hard facts on the specs from both sides and actual gameplay footage of games, no rendered cinema crap or cut scenes, actual gameplay
And then i will fully decide if i am excited

Its hard to answer, I want the next gen consoles to be good and fulfill my expectations but if they wont I will probably switch completely to PC gaming. But I must say that I do care for next gen consoles and its future.

But they are Media Boxes as i have said... And they are just smaller P.C's with the ability of certain aspects of a P.C

Next gen consoles are going to need to evolve into full entertainment machines with GOOD web browsers to be relevant

I bought my Xbox 360 on launch day. Since that came out my daughter has gone from preschool through elementary school and on to middle school, both my wife and I have each replaced 2 cars and are on our 3rd, and our new puppy is now entering middle age.
I was ready for a new console last year. I'm totally bored with this generation, and have no doubt that the hardware is holding back innovation at this point, and has been for quite some time now.Last edited by Completely Average; 01-29-2013 at 17:34.
