Should have called it something else. With that title many of us expected the roster to ACTUALLY be filled out with ICONIC PLAYSTATION CHARACTERS. That wasn't the case and they suffered for that very reason. Hopefully those who were laid off will find somewhere to go

Part of the game's character roster included several big-name characters for what seemed like advertising other studios' newer titles and because they were popular, despite not being tied to the PlayStation brand (e.g. DmC's Dante, Rising's Raiden and Big Daddy from BioShock).
Crash Bandicoot, Cloud Strife, Raziel, Dart, Lara Croft, Spyro, Big Boss - I guarantee you that if these actual all-star characters and more were put into the game that Sony would have seen better sales.Last edited by Blacksite; 01-27-2013 at 00:10.

Sucks about the layoffs.
The core game is generally a blast. I had some balancing issues with it around launch but they've subsequently released a couple patches so they are clearly working on making it a better and balanced experience, so that's great. Oh and free (for 2 weeks) DLC next month, which will be awesome. Emitt looks like a bowss.
But yeah, other than the core gameplay [and the levels] it is a pretty barebones game, it's almost like a beta of sorts. Lack of game modes, items are pretty boring/one dimensional, and the menus are extremely bland and cumbersome.
They were hiring soon after launch for a next gen title (?), if my memory serves me right. So despite these layoffs we may still see more of this franchise. I sure hope we do. There is a solid foundation for them to work on to try and make it more appealing, and the roster can be continually improved
Edit: Oh yeah the netcode/matchmaking is kinda shit too. Takes a while to get into games. But that may be because no one is playing it
Also - I think I saw this on the PSN store for £19.99 (crossbuy) if anyone is actually interested. Decent price for digital.Last edited by Nitey; 01-27-2013 at 00:03.

You just don't understand. That game is Shakespearean.

I enjoyed PS All Stars for a weekend and then just got bored of it. For me the screen is too busy, the visuals too bright and it's just a lot of jumping around. Basically, it just hurt my head.

Yeah I picked it up for £18 (PS+) on Friday after seeing that price and definitely think that this is the price it should have been released at. It is a really good game and agree that it's a perfect core to build from for future releases.
If you're up for a game sometime tonight I'm up for it.

For me, it wasn't the roster, it was the fact that the game was just pointless, like all other games like that. Yes, I hate SSBs.
Give me a proper this-generation powerstone any day.
