How to find PC games save files?

By next week I want to reformat my PC. I have downloaded all my PC games from Steam. But I have a question. How can I copy my PC games save files? So, when I will reformat my PC I can replay those games from were I have left. Because I don't want to start playing those games again from the start. Thanks for any help.

it depends on the game.....

most of the time you can find them in your own documents folder

so ...

C:\Users\[Insert your name here]\Documents

and just find the games folders in there and look for the "Save" folders in each, copy those to an external hard drive, then copy them back later.


or just copy the entire documents folder

I suggest to not install Steam on your C:\ drive when you reinstall, that way when you do format again you don't have to do what you are doing now

Its so confusing and I can't see any folder under name save. There are so many stupid and weird file names and I don't no which one is the save file. What kind a mass is that. With my PS3 game saves is so nice and clear. I don't no why the hell the PC is like that. Its incredible.

The Steam is already been installed on my PC but I don't remember if its on C or E.

Just copy the whole folder that is the name of the game.

I was refered to a program called "GAMESAVE MANAGER," which it will find the game save by its self. I will copy those save games and put them there again. Thanks guys.
