Perhaps capable is the key word? I mean this thing will likely be a 4k device and will want to do 3D at 1080 too. Those FPS prob wont be used in games other than to render them properly in 3D without quality loss.

That's quite a strange statement indeed. You can render at like 600fps even on a ps3 provided the graphical detail is low (I mean serioulsy low, like just one basic character onscreen). Such numbers don't mean anything on their own

I think they should just stick to making 1080p the norm for all next-gen titles. I get the feeling that we won't actually see 4k resolution titles. Not unless the TVs that'd support them are made affordable.

i got to Question the price, ill be happy with £300 no higher. or im hoping they will bundle it with a game or games for around £350-380 which im wiling to push the budget. plus games price might be around £40-45 in my eyes cant see them shooting off the shelfs at that price might be a slow start with that.

That was exactly what I was thinking. Besides, much like any other console generation, the frist generation or two of games are going to be rolling off of code optimized on Alpha and beta kits to a large degree. When running off of final hardware, the likely target will be 60FPS but could be higher or may have 3D enabled.

Why when it comes to consoles it has to be no more than $400? I bet most of you have a phone that cost $600 if not more, and maybe some of you even own a tablet that cost the same!! I wouldn't mind paying more $600 for the PS4 as i know i won't be getting a new one in 2-3 years.

I think $600 is not that big of a deal as some of you make it look.

I agree. Sony would be staggering out of the gate like they did with the PS3 if they price it any higher than that especially if 720 is priced in that $400-450 range.

I believe they learned their lesson last time around. One thing i would be willing to bet an extravagant amount of money on is that both consoles will support identical prices at launch. This is going to be an all out battle between Sony and MS this gen. MS knows how much there is to lose and Sony knows what they have to gain versus the current gen. This strong competition will be great for us gamers.

I'm thinking 4-500 with the $500 version having B/C. That's what I would do if I were Sony. Create a rush for the expensive one early on to recoup some hardware costs, then axe it and produce a "slim" in two years while consolodating all the B/C stuff out of it to save on manufacturing.

I know that probably sounds mean, but business is business. I imagine Sony would have actually sold a lot more PS3s early on if they had warned everybody that B/C would be phased out.

I've never complained about the price and I doubt any 'hardcore' gamer has. I would buy a $599 console in a heart beat if it had the power and features to justify it.

Or add cloud streaming via Genkai of PS3 games for PS+ members. Keep online play free.

I will definitely get PS4 first regardless of when they release but I'm sure I'll buy an xbox too. Im a sucker for new tech.

I may get xbox later in the gen (MAYBE) after pricedrops and whatnot but PS4 will be day one.

The only game that could make me buy xbox is Alan Wake 2 but all alan wake games came to steam so I hope the sequel comes to pc aswell
