How do I sell a laptop for parts?

My Asus won't turn on anymore. The battery doesn't even get a charge from the AC adapter. So I'm looking to sell my laptop for parts. How do I erase my personal information on it if it won't come on? Is it better to take the laptop apart and sell it piece by piece or do I just sell the whole thing?

    Thank you.

Burn this to a CD or DVD

I remove all other drives (just unplug the connectors) before wiping the drive I want.

It's a rule that you make more money by selling in parts. It requires patience, since selling in parts can take time, and knowhow in order to take everything apart and test them.

Even though I have the knowledge, I wouldn't bother selling in parts. I don't have the time for it. I would just format the HDD and sell it as is, for spare/repairs.

    Asus X53E

I don't know the specs, but the processor is 2.1 GHz fast. That's all I remember. You can get the specs just by looking it up.

    Thank you guys.
