God of War: Ascension - 11 new single-player campaign screenshots

God of War: Ascension was the focus of a press event Stateside this week – you can check out Phil Owen’s full, hands-on campaign preview and interview here – and now Sony has released a big batch of detailed single-player screens into the wild. There are beasts, mythical environments and even some pics of Kratos looking less-angry than usual.

I never thought I would say this but right around the corner for release I'm not interested in a GOW game. I loved it so much for the first 3 installments but this one just didn't really catch me from the beginning. I'm sure I'll get around to playing it but I'm just not hyped for it.

am replaying all the GoW series in order. this is possibly one of the last games of this gen i will buy i reckon

*edit: didn't realise at first it was the first 30 mins. just watch a few bits. looks fucking awesome. maybe because i've been playing chains of olympus and gow1, but it looks better than 3 by a fair bit imo.

Nope, just pointing out the facts. I don't know what would make you think that considering this thread is a screen shot thread in which everyone is marveling at the visuals.

I love the God of War franchise for the gameplay. The stunning visuals are just the cherry on top.

It's very impressive but the one fault I have found with GOW is that Kratos is extremely extremely detailed and they've put probably hundreds of hours and polygons into him or whatnot but when he is in a screenshot of another character or enemy even the ingame movies everyone else look very underwhelming. Their skin and textures etc just aren't up to par with him and its almost so noticable that it takes away. Like he is almost lifelike and everyone else a cartoon.

Don't get me wrong. Day 1 buy as they all have been and I love the graphics and detail but when your going to get close ups of other enemies/characters...they really need to step up the detail imo.

Yes, the game looks gorgeous.
They have clearly Improved their tech from GoW3 days.
Most likely they still use their own and very interesting forward renderer.

1. its not a fact. it could easily be done on a PC.
2. who on earth cares? its a gorgeous looking game. you don't need to attempt to relate everything good about a game back to some immature notion of 'platform wars' that to every rational gamer ended years ago.

I cant help but agree man. I mean, everyone seems to love ND and rightly so. But the God of War games are just insane.

I love them but I want to see what else the studio is capable of now. With Stig working on something new, that's what excites me the most
