    Last week, we published a poll and you chose to know more about the Durango GPU. Wishes come true. We have splitted the articled in three pages, don’t forget to read the whole work.
    A better view of Durango’s GPU capabilities and performance.


    Durango brings the enhanced capabilities of a modern Direct3D 11 GPU to the console space. The Durango GPU is a departure from previous console generations both in raw performance and in structure.

    The following table describes expected performance of the Durango GPU. Bear in mind that the table is based only on hardware specifications, not on actual hardware running actual code. For many reasons, theoretical peak performance can be difficult or impossible to achieve with real-world processing loads.

    Unless they are both easy to develop for making, the reason PS3 got horrible ports was because the Xbox was used as the base and the architectures were both different so it made porting games more difficult. With the next gen according to what we have seen so far the architectures are going to be similar, so hopefully 3rd part developers will be able to tweak both systems to the best of their abilities!

    they are also very PC like so my guess is PS4 will be closest to the PC while 720p will be low end PC style

    This just further cements my choice to go PS4 only next gen. MS has really dropped the ball with this one. I hope the 720 wont be holding back the multiplats on PS4 but it propably will.

    I'm starting to think the rumors of kinect in every box is true if they are going for lower specs than the ps4. Going after the casual crowd from the jump is a bit risky if it doesn't latches on. The core will always be there at launch.

    I agree. It sounds like MS is going after the casual crowd for sure. I see alot of 360 core gamers jumping over to the Playstation brand next gen.

    I have no idea what this means, but the power differential sounds fairly significant according to GAF:


    Orbis VS Durango

    32 ROPS vs 16 ROPS

    1.8 TFLOPS vs 1.2 TFLOPS


    With that said, I'm sure Microsoft has a reason for this. They must have something up their sleeve, whether it's control wise, social wise, etc.

    And yeah, the diagram and specs are accurate as of last February, though it isn't the exact diagram I've seen. I don't know if VGLeaks made it themselves based on their own conjecture or not.

    Edit: also, they're still not talking about the hardware display planes (there are three, one is reserved for the OS, and each can render at a different resolution), which are definitely a thing, and the move engines, which are also a thing.
    So we could be looking at 1 year old specs???

    from what i'm reading rumour wise, MS appear to be giving Sony free reign on the games side of it and as good as the few MS exclusives are, i'm not sure as yet that i can think of a good reason to invest in Nextbox for anything other than achievements and gamepad design..

    depending on what Sony do to fix a few things i don't like about PS3 going forward with PS4, the tic list in favour of Nextbox for me is rapidly running out.

    His from Gaf and works for a games site, his been ripped a new one cuz he keeps changing his words to benefit the durango
    he was trusted, but not anymore
    for example he said Devs hate Orbis & love Durango, durango is more powerful,etc,etc = 98% of every other report, the complete opposite

    To be fair if these specs are true (with most being underwhelmed by them), if MS can price Sony out of the market again by enough of a margin they'll be onto another winner in NA/US. I say that because you'd expect there will be multiplat parity in most cases

    Both will have the games, both will have features - I suspect MS may have a wider selection, so in a age of $500+ smartphones and tablets a lot will come down to price IMO

    Edit: Oh yeah and one will have a billion dollar ad campaign as well
