Playing as a Sentinel in the 3rd game though, Powers were totally unnecessary. Most of the time they were harder to use and had less of an effect than simply shooting the enemy. The only Power that made any real difference was Warp Ammo.

Also in the first game the Pistol was the only weapon a Sentinel could use, and part way through the game you could add a single other weapon type. Mass Effect 3 had no weapon restrictions at all. Rather than being an Adept with a gun it was more of a Soldier with a weak biotic system. I didn't like the change at all, it took the whole RPG aspect out of the game series.
I felt that ME2 had a watered down RPG aspect, they balanced it nicely in 3. Also, the combat felt a lot more dynamic whilst 2 was below average. Biotics were really useful in 3 as well, especially the combination of them. In 2 they were quite overpowered, especially the shockwave.

I might be in the minority, but I was really disappointed with ME2's ending. The all hyped up suicide mission was so damn easy, so I had lowered expectations for 3. While the ending could've explained a little more, I still find the whole story to be fantastic. The explanation of the reapers in further DLC and reading made it that much better.

As for what I'd like to see in the next game:

More hub areas: The Citadel was the only city in ME3, and while the Citadel is great, we need more race-specific settlements to explore in order to become more attached and better acquainted with Mass Effect's universe.

Improved Endings: Not only should the endings be much more varied than what we got in ME3, but it was disappointing that our War Assets were nothing more than points added to a score. I was expecting to see at least 10 seconds of each asset fighting in the final battle. It would have made collecting War Assets more fun.

Improved Space Exploration/Combat: The next step for this franchise is to actually have the player pilot their ship in space, instead of flying around a mini-map. In order to keep the experience properly paced, BioWare would have to decrease the proportions and make traveling to planets fast and easy. This would also allow for space combat.

Improved Animations: This doesn't need much explanation. Mass Effect has always had some very stiff animations.

Improved Main-Character Voice Acting: From what I understand, FemShep's voice acting is pretty solid, but I have yet to play as her. I have only played as Male Shepard and his voice acting is terribly robotic. The side characters are well-done though.

Improved Quest System: ME3's quest system didn't allow you to select a quest and be shown where to go. Many of them were quite vague. This needs to be laid out a bit better.
Well put. I was never a fan of the animations, it felt cheap. And the facial structures, looked like they were made by an amateur. Those huge eyes looking at you. Of course, I'm talking about fem Shepard.
Oh, I'm sorry did I break your concentration I didn't mean to do that. Please, continue. - Jules

Ehh, biotic were find in 2. They messed them up somewhat in 3. Going by that logic the guns would have been messed up in one because you had unlimited ammunition.

What logic? They were fine in 2, I agree. I just had more fun with them in 3.

However 2 was just one big recruitment mission with a disappointing finale, making it my least favourite.

The logic that biotics were overpowered in 2. I really didn't care for the neutered down shockwave in 3 (among other powers)

Similarly I didn't care for the thermal clip system introduced in 2 and carried over to 3.

I want a similar commander and crew set up that Mass Effect has always had, but I would prefer a less military style character. Basically more like Han Solo or Firefly. Also I would like to be able to play as races other than human.

I want great new teammates, and more hub worlds to explore. I'm not sure where they'll put this new one in the Mass Effect continuity.

Also since it's on the Frostbite engine I expect a revamped, even more realistic style to everything, and improved animations. Also I expect it to be a next gen title.

Another thing I want, which people may bitch and moan about, is a bigger multiplayer component. I really want to have some optional coop style missions. They could do it Dead Space style and work the other person's character into the cutscenes. Also I want advanced customization for the multiplayer characters... maybe we could even use our single player characters too!

I don't understand the hate for ME3 from some of you. It was a fantastic experience. Sure there were less hub worlds, but it fit the story that they wanted to tell in the third chapter.

I want this to be a new beginning with new everything and a focus on exploration and characters as well as smooth, satisfying gameplay.
