343 INDUSTRIES WORKING ON NEW “AAA” GAME SET IN HALO UNIVERSE

Posted by Steve Hannley on 06 Feb 2013

The Halo franchise has proven to be in capable hands with 343 Industries, so it makes sense that they would produce games outside of the main Halo canon. That’s apparently what’s happening right now, as 343 is looking to hire a new Creative Director to deliver a “groundbreaking new AAA entertainment experience set in the Halo universe”

The wording clearly rules out a main-series entry in the series, and the word “new” seems to suggest it’s not a continuation of a previous spin-off like ODST. While it could certainly be a new Halo Wars, the vague wording leads us to believe it’s an entirely new franchise. Whatever it is, it’s clear 343 is working on a Halo game that’s not Halo 5.

so could it be a spin off, of some kind

So another spin off so that they can drag out the release of Halo 5 and 6 for as long as possible?

I think 343 is a two team studio so hopefully they are working on Halo 5 too.

How does that infer a game. It says entertainment that could be the new set of Halo books (the last of the forerunner and Kilo-Five book series are coming to an end this year), a new film/TV series in the Halo Universe (The LA studio is working on TV content so it would make sense that they're first project would be related to Halo or another upcoming game).

You have to remember that 343i isn't a dev at this point. They are pretty much the lucasfilms for the Halo franchise.

Also I would count on more Spartan Ops stuff instead of a big new game.

While they are developer they also are also behind everything Halo.

While Lucas arts is also a studio everything star wars goes through them any way.

Beyond develop ping the games 343i handles all of the Halo PR and expanded universe stuff goes through them we here they work with writers who has an idea for a new book or comic.

This contrasts heavily to Bungie who ignored the Expanded Universe Material and didn't have a problem rectoning if they needed. Its also publicly known that Bungie didn't like Halo Wars and gave the ensemble hard times during development.

Contrast this too 343i who doesn't treat the expanded universe stuff as its own ghetto but apart of how they actively build the universe.

-Halo Forward unto Dawn tells the back story of Commander Laskey and how he first met chief,

the forerunner book series tells the backstory leading up to the the first fire of the Halo. It goes into detail about the Didact and Librarian and is used in Halo 4.

the Majority of the side characters and main characters in Halo 4 and Spartan Ops were introduced in the book series. ( Jul 'Mdama, Halsey, Laskey, Del Rio,)

The flashback missions weren't great, but the city was fantastic in ODST. Artistically and atmospherically, it was the best Halo I've played. The harder gameplay was a nice addition as well.

I didn't like the environments, the lighting, the excessive night missions, the HUD, outlining of the AI, the story and most of the characters.

Links because the last thing about their team I could find was about them having over 200 people working on halo 4.

    Edit: Thanks, shingi70

Campaign Team/War Games Team/Spartan Ops Team

    ^LOL

I know. Don't get me wrong..I loved Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 (with Halo 4 being the best). Just didn't like ODST at all. I know many did though.
