$400 is a pretty good launch price if the rumoured hardware is correct (and the hardware and games deliver!)

Good price, only thing that will get me interested in a "within the first year" purchase is PS3 playback. Else, thus far, it seems like a 2014 purchase. Hopefully we get some awesome game announcements at E3.

PS3 playback is very unlikely without a Cell processor being included.
Unfortunately the cons far outweighs the pros when it comes to adding PS3 playback to the PS4. They would have to either increase the price of the PS4(likely by $100+), lower the specs of the PS4, take a much larger loss on each PS4 sold or stick with the Cell processor and run into game development problems again.
While I would prefer PS3 playback even at a higher price; unfortunately the majority of consumers do not think the same way. I also actually prefer a higher spec machine over adding PS3 playback.
At least with the approach they are taking with the PS4 it will be a lot easier to include BC in future PlayStation consoles.Last edited by Ryunosuke; 02-07-2013 at 09:21.

If the rumoured specs are to be believed, it's my understanding from reading around that this is pretty much what is expected. This could put them in good stead as the general unknowing customer out there they may remember the PS3 being $500-$600 but this time around the next Sony home console is more reasonably priced compared to last gen. I dunno, could be nothing, but could be something.
I'm expecting $400, $450 max. £350. Which is perfectly fine

Great price, id pay that from day1
$400 is about £240-260 here in UK! i cant complain with that price what so ever. but adding on games with that price might be a pretty decent buy
so with the console price an few games might be about £300 mark so it isnt bad, better than the £425 launch for PS3 back in 2006 + games price added to that.

Don't worry much if it price is a little high than this tho. In here it will be around $800 if it is $ 400 for you.

kind of expected. Im thinking this will be the pricepoint for the base-model PS4 with just a console and controller for about 399.99 in the US. Then ill expect a larger bundle for 499.99 with a game and some game vouchers or a second controller. Sony will not make mistake of pricing themselves out of the market again.

I paid $600 for a launch 60gb model and Sony could not keep up with the demand. The price is never an issue when a console launches. The issue is making sure the price was justified.

This is about along the lines of what I was thinking. 400-450. No problem with that. Hopefully this remains to be true in the end. Not really that exact figure though. Lol could you imagine a console being price $428 exactly.

More than the launch 60gb launch?!
@Others - £400 is just £25 less than the 60gb launched here if I remember correctly. Whilst PSV isn't flying off the shelves Sony made a console that is fairly priced for what's inside it, and their announcement of $250 was met by a positive surprise by most in the industry. Hopefully they save the same surprise for the PS4
