Dates back to E3 last year, but at least you know what the thinking is at the highest levels of Sony on the subject.

I look at the problem from another angle. Imagine if hackers coordinated a DDoS attack every time a big game released? If they take down the central network, then no one can play their games. It would wreck the industry.

It's nice to hear such things from higher up, but as you mention it's from last year and things could potentially change. I sure hope not
If Sony Japan has made their mind up about this then you'd think there's nothing the other divisions could really say.
I still don't think either platform holder will go through with this..
But I suppose, there's no smoke without fire

But Jack also said the Japanese execs may think differently than him, so while this is good to hear, it doesn't mean Sony won't do it.

Iv never had a real problem with the used games market, i buy my games new! but its unfair for those who cant afford new games an tend to buy them used, but the problem i have is having those games blocked from being used on another console is wrong i dont see the whole point in the internet pass or whatever they call it lol an to take a game over to a mates which wont work unless he/she pays extra to get a new pass to use the game, same issue lies where a used game has to have a pass code to play its meaning paying more on top of that which could cost maybe 5-10 less than a new game in the first place so id rather buy it new.

There's two sides to the coin in this matter. Banning used games does satisfy publisher/developer wants allowing the Durango to appeal more to that market, making the Orbis have a lesser number of exclusives on the long run.

Another important thing to remember is that many gamers acquire the money they need to buy new games by selling their current games. Therefore, if the second-hand market is being removed, then new games need to be at cheaper prices. That's a middle-ground I think gamers would deal with.

That's a really good point. Yet another way this will tank sales.
I didn't know that! Wow, so the game industry already knows they are throwing down the gauntlet if they do this. Seems almost suicidal. Especially if this happened to a game like Call of Duty..

Could you imagine 24 days of no game sales because people couldn't register the game!

Lol yep.
This kind of stuff just doesn't make sense for a console which is supposed to be pick up and play not pick up and fiddle around for 15mins to connect to psn install and put it some code ad register it when you bought it on disk. May as well have a pc
