"Industry source" suggests Killzone 4 "could" be PS4 launch title

Killzone 4 will release later this year on Sony's next-generation PlayStation, an industry source has told VideoGamer.com.

The unannounced game, which our source claims is currently in development at Guerrilla Games, could be revealed during PlayStation Meeting on February 20, where Sony is expected to unveil PlayStation 4.

Sony has tended to announce new games in Guerrilla's shooter series alongside its hardware reveals.

The platform holder released a trailer for Killzone 2 during the announcement of PlayStation 3 - something which was later criticised for being a "target render" rather than a true example of the console's capabilities.

It also confirmed that a Killzone title was in development for PlayStation Vita at the time of the handheld's announcement.

Our source's comments suggest that Killzone 4 could be a launch window title for the unannounced hardware, which is rumoured to go on sale by the end of 2013.

Guerrilla Games' latest release was Killzone 3, which released on PlayStation 3 in 2011. In addition to Killzone 4, the developer is known to be working on a new IP.

SCEE declined to comment when contacted by VideoGamer.com.

Make it MORE like KZ2 and i will bite, day 1 even if its £400.

I spent hundreds of hours in KZ2, the MP for that is the second best i have had the pleasure of playing, so good. The gameplay, graphics and how the MP played ( no full health regen, the calsses, maps etc) was near perfect. Add more variety like KZ3 and that will be perfect. Too bad many gamers are ( rather not say this word ) and did not adapt/try to accept the change of game style compared to COD, even though it was not that hard and very well made.

I would love it if like KZ: Mercenary if you could choose sides and buy guns through in game money/XP etc... allows for much more replay value.

I can see it happening at E3 but not necessarily at the beginning. It would be like The Last of Us presentation where they start it off with just the sound running. I've always thought that was cool.

I'd like a KZ like that too. They missed a good opportunity to do so after how kz2 ended. Viewing the war through Radec's eyes would have been perfect.

I hope they make this a second wave title.

Killzone 2 and 3 were graphical masterpieces, and I dont mind waiting for that.

Unless because of the architrcture they are maxing the hardware out of the box.

Just hope it lives up to the name.

Would definitely day one a KZ4. But I am more interested in the new Guerilla IP. Seems like Sony really beefed that studio up which is great. Lots of potential there

Hopefully it'll be more killzone 2 than 3. 2 had great gun recoil and an awesome last boss fight. KZ3 had a horrible ending sequence (on rail shooter! are you serious?) and a bad ending in general. Online, hopefully it'll be more like KZ2 also, choosing servers, having spawn grenades, no stupid mines that everyone used for easy kills.

Also bring back killzone 2 theme ( helghan forever). I have not played KZ3 so not if its in that. So good.
