Square Enix registers Legacy of Kain domain

CSC Corporate Domains, the corporate domain registrar used by Square Enix, registered a Legacy of Kain-related domain name on Thursday, internet sleuth Superannuation has discovered.

The domain, WarForNosgoth.com (Nosgoth is ~~an area~~ the world within Legacy of Kain), could signal an upcoming announcement for the franchise, whose last new release was Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003.

A new title was first rumored to be in the works two years back.

It was rumored early last year that Crystal Dynamics were working on a reboot. Tomb Raider will be out next month so unless they have plans for a sequel, revisiting the Legacy of Kain IP sounds like something they would do next.

Blood Omen and Soul Reaver are already on PSN. This should be a new announcement.

I have waited far, far too long for a new game in this series. Raziel was at one point, easily my favorite video game character.

Square Enix has registered a domain relating to the Legacy of Kain series, called War for Nosgoth.

The domain registration, for warfornosgoth.com, was filed on February 7th through CSC Corporate Domains, Inc.

Following the registration, a storyboard has emerged which purports to relate to a cut-scene from the game.

Posted by the artist Richard Buxton, the storyboard is labelled “Legacy of Kain videogame animation pitch” and was undertaken on behalf of a company called Passion Pictures in 2011.

Legacy of Kain debuted on PlayStation in 1996, developed by Silicon Knights’ Dennis Dyak. There have since been four further entries to the series, including the Soul Reaver spin-offs, the latest of which was Legacy of Kain: Defiance on PS2 and Xbox in 2003.
