http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/...ng-on-new-gameFrench developer Quantic Dream released its first game, Omikron: The Nomad Soul, way back in 1999. But with the release of the 2010 PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain, the studio created a bona fide critical and commercial hit, and speculation about what the team would do in the future became a common point of discussion in the gaming industry.
The nature of the game, of course, is unknown. It would make sense that it’s a PlayStation exclusive – Sony doesn’t own Quantic Dream, but David Cage said last year that his games are exclusive to PlayStation -- and with Beyond: Two Souls coming out this year and this game far out on the horizon, it would also make sense that it was a next-gen game; perhaps it will be on PlayStation 4. (We’ve long speculated that Sony would eventually buy Quantic Dream outright; David Cage noted in an interview with IGN that he’d be open to becoming first party.)We know that Quantic Dream is currently toiling away on another PlayStation 3 exclusive – Beyond: Two Souls – slated for release in 2013. And now, thanks to Games Industry International, we have official confirmation that David Cage and his team are working on another game.
“I actually have probably my next three games in mind,” Cage told the publication. “Although I’m full speed on Beyond[: Two Souls], I know what I’m doing after it because it’s already in development, and I know what I’m doing after that and probably after that.”
Could the game he alludes to be the rumored PlayStation 4 title Singularity? Quantic Dream secured the domain SingularityPS4.com in the same style as their previous domains HeavyRainPS3.com and BeyondPS3.com. This project was assumed to be associated with Quantic Dream’s GDC Kara demo, which was based on the book The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil.
However, when we asked Cage about Singularity last week, he denied the project existed. That’s strange considering the aforementioned domain name is still owned and retained by Quantic Dream. Is he simply trying to throw us off the trail?
