My guess is that it's going to be a Dead-on-Arrival peripheral. Seems like Sony just wants to have something out from the get-go that can test the waters of WiiU's tablet gaming concept. I don't think it's going to work for PS4's market at all, though. Price point and demographic issues per usual.

This is weird, when Nintendo came out with it, I didn't like it...now Sony's coming out with it, I kinda like it lol.
Maybe because it won't be the standard? I mean, I don't mind if it is the standard, as long as there are two standards and one of them is the dual shock.
