So today Bungie officially announced their next game, Destiny. While there was obviously a lot of information that was leaked, we finally got a trailer and a lot of information about what Destiny is. Probably the biggest reveal was that this is an always online console shooter. So it's essentially an MMO on the consoles, with classes and the ability to play with a group, however there is no monthly subscription. Speaking of consoles though, Destiny will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, and "future generation technology", which is of course next-gen consoles. Sadly, it apparently isn't coming to PC, but who knows, maybe they will change their mind about that.
There is a couple of articles above with a ton more information, which include the trailer that you can watch. I'm personally really excited about this. It really seems like Bungie is trying to do something new and very different from Halo. There was no release date yet, but it sounds like it could be either late this year or early next year. So what does everybody else think about it? Are you excited about what Bungie is doing, or are you disappointed by what they showed?

I want to see the gameplay on this. As excited as I am right now which is the same before I got to play DUST514 which ended up disappointing me beyond disappointment, haha. Hopefully this game wont disappoint and the gameplay will be smooth without restrictions.

On topic: Destiny seems to fix all problems I have with DUSt 514 (comparable huge sci fi MMO). Destiny has no loading screens (which are sooo annoying is DUST) and so much better graphics from all the in game footage considering they showed the 360 version of the game (most probably cuz halo 4 looks slightly better.
This is why I was excited about this game. I WANT a huge game that has a strong social aspect. Can't wait to see more
Online-only
No subscription
No "main menu"
Matchmaking and game matchups done on the fly in-game, rather than through lobbies
Hub "public" zones that are all 3rd person. This is where you meet up with players, exchange loot, etc, etc. The one described in the news is on Earth, the Last City and mainly in a place called The Tower, but there are others on the other planets, too, apparently. One for Mars was suggested.
Raids/Dungeons
Game will seamlessly add players in and out of your co-op or solo adventure, think like Journey-style.
Takes place in a variety of locations: Earth, Venus, Mars, The Moon, rings of Saturn, Mercury, moons of Jupiter... more could be added
Each planet/location is treated as a "book" as far as story and structure is concerned. You can play and unlock new chapters within each planet's book.
You can get your own ship, and can customize it. Higher level = better ships.
Similarily, you can customize your character, appearance, skills probably, and weapons. Vehicles too.
Only human are said to be playable so far.
Three announced classes: Hunter (like a Rogue class I'd say), Titan (like Spartan I guess), and Warlock (magic user). Yes, there is magic. Space magic
No word on space combat or space travel, but if you get your own ship, I don't see why not.
Game will have no loading screens, no progress bars. Implying seamless travel from location to location.
Ties in with mobile apps and social networks, ie: set up parties and missions, get allerted of new chapters available, new locations, events, etc. Customize character...
Races are: Human, Vex (time travelling robots), Spiders Pirates, Cabal (rhino people), and some others
Faction Wars features, competitive hoppers, not very elaborated upon.
"Squads/Crews" look to be up to 6 people, but you can imagine that you could have pairings of multiple squads, or enemies.Last edited by itachi73378; 02-17-2013 at 22:01.

Looks very cool
Looks as though Bungie has again created another interesting and unique world. Not sure how I feel about it being an MMO but I'm gonna give it a go regardless

Not gonna lie this game looks incredible.
My only issue is that because its online only, and activision is publishing I fear for tonnes and tonnes of dlc and micro transactions... And also on next gen consoles I fear heaps of people will try to make similar games forgetting about single player and maing more MMOs like this pay once or free to play.
But damn... I'm keeping an eye on this, its definitely something I want to experience. I just don't want everyone else to start being a copycat

Some people on GAF are complaining that the game is too colourful for a post apocalyptic setting.
This just blows my mind. People really think that post apocalyptic means gray?! In fact I think that this irony is so awesome. To have such lush environments to draw contrast between the life and death...

Since its activision, I'm not surprised they are going after all the moneyLast edited by itachi73378; 02-17-2013 at 22:22.

Honestly, Itachi, the footage didn't blow me away.
I think they should have saved it for next-gen consoles.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054
