I really hope so. If it's only $400 ish, that would be amazing.
Yep. One of the best Blu Ray player on the market imo. And it does so much more. Honestly I can boot up my PS3 and start watching a blu ray faster than most Blu ray players will even load the disc. But there is a major price difference involved in the models like that and the PS3. lol

Guys, I made the mistake of venturing into both Kotaku and YouTube comment sections.

There I read that the Wii-U is still going to blow the PS4 away as well as read that the ability to share is the worst thing ever. My faith in humanity has been rocked to the core.

Currently hunting around looking at HD footage of the games shown. My stream went down numerous times and the 'High' quality was just disastrous.

I think the cell was the biggest mistake they have ever made.

I also think the browser will suck on ps4. I think they make shitty browsers on purpose so people (kids) dont want to use them.

But the rest of the machine will be a gaming beast.

I didn't say it was the best, I said it's still one of the best, and it is. And those 80-100 dollar stand-alones are utter trash... I'm sure you haven't tried them... I've tried many. If you want a solid Blu-ray player with pristine video quality, you're probably going to spend at least $300 dollars.

Here a good summary of the specs of the PS4, and some details that they didn't go into on stage.

    http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/...hock-4-and-eye

    Some noteworthy things:

-8-core AMD "Jaguar" x86-64 with integrated graphics APU
-AMD Radeon graphics processor capable of driving 1.84 teraflops
    -8GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory
-PS4 will come with a headset
    -Built-in 80.211 b/g/n Wi-Fi
    -Bluetooth 2.1
    -Blu-ray player
-HDMI, Analog-AV, and optical digital output
    -"AUX" port
-Touch pad features a mechanical button and supports "capacitive type."
-DualShock 4 is expectedly gaining a bit of weight, going from 6.77 ounces on the DualShock 3 to 7.4 ounces on the DualShock 4.
-The built-in LED can also be used to represent in-game elements, like a player's overall health.
-The PlayStation 4 Eye, which has been revealed as having a 1280x800 pixel sensor capable of capturing video at 60 frames-per-second

WTF? What isn't true? Are you even reading what I'm saying? Did I say there weren't Blu-ray players for that price? No, I didn't. I said the players at that price are crap... they have menus that lag... they take forever to load discs... and they have some big issues. I've owned many of these sub 150 dollar Blu-ray players attempting to save some money... and I kept coming back to the PS3. The $250+ players are really nice, though and some of them have very noticeably sharper picture than the PS3.

    Goes to best buy.com

Selects the top user rated blu-ray players from the sidebar.

Is presented with those 4 options.

The 2 that are under $100 have a 92/93% would recommend to a friend rating (in addition to their high user ratings).

What you said may have been true in the past, but that isn't the case in the present.

Wii-U is barely able to blow the Wii away. The PS4, just on what we've seen today, left the Wii-U in the dust already.

It wasn't even a review on the actual type of blu-ray player it is... they sum it up:
The first version PS3 was a superb gaming device, and the latest iteration is even more attractive given its lower price, and slimmer, more energy-efficient design. Throw in new features, like HDMI CEC and you've got a true winner. The Sony PlayStation 3 Slim is the best console for gamers and home entertainment buffs who want a versatile media center with Blu-ray and Netflix-streaming support.

Yeah, there's going to be a lot of that going around. No matter if the presentation was the best thing ever or the worst. I haven't looked for those comments, but chances are it are people trying to reaffirm their purchase and attack what Sony has shown.

I would say they didn't disappoint, but I wasn't floored either. I think they focused on the core gamer for the most part. I was expecting more of a PS Move 2.0 focus. They didn't even spend really any time on the Kinect rip off camera. A few thoughts...

-The PS4 having the high bandwidth 8gb could be the really difference between the PS3 and the next Xbox

-Sony's internal studios had really mastered working with the PS3 way of designing games. While they will be professional and still be able to push out amazing games, those years with the PS3 really won't help them to hit the floor running developing for the PS4. It kind of levels out the playing field for developers publishing on the PS4.

-The different features of the PS4 like sharing and the streaming are only as good as the developer support they receive. Microsoft did a great job making their features a requirement for all developers on the Xbox 360. Sony have got to force some of these features and make it painless and worthwhile for the developers. It's not going to fly if only a handful of developers pick and choose some of these features.

-THANK YOU that you didn't put focus on 4k resolution games. Games shown IMO could use those resources put towards frame rates and other aspects that jar you from the experience of the game.

All in all they did a good job. Nothing that made my jaw drop, but they could have focused on Kinect/Move type stuff, 3D immersion, 4K resolutions, Movie/TV/Music services, and more filler. This was about the gamer and letting developers know you won't need to sacrifice a chicken and pull out a book of spells to figure out how to program for the PS4. LOL.

It's called denial. I wouldn't talk crap about them but they had another chance, they could've done something beautiful and all they came up with were better graphics...are you serious? lol. Not even a redesign of their services?

Nintendo didn't grow up...Sony did and MS is leading the way...well the ball is in their court because right now Sony is leading it.

Though I firmly believe that MS will outdo Sony with their services...just how much? we have to see.
Sick and tired of playing all the games I own. Oh hey, what's that...Ni No Kuni for $30 on Amazon? Thank you Sony for preventing me from committing suicide.

    I agree.

But I'm confused about the streaming/sharing...how is that developer-dependent?

Exactly. I have to get away from those places for a while. I forgot how fun console launches are.

Where did you get that part from? The only thing I heard was developer dependent was the "commander" (or something like that) areas, where friends could drop in a potion or other pickup.

It doesn't seem they would promote such a feature if they weren't sure every game would have it.

LOL.
Yep. I think you're right on mostly. I think they will be able to hit the floor running on the accessibility that they will have with the hardware and easier platform they will be working with in the code aspect of it.

Nintendo didn't grow up...Sony did and MS is leading the way...well the ball is in their court because right now Sony is leading it.

Though I firmly believe that MS will outdo Sony with their services...just how much? we have to see.
100%. I spent a lot of money into the Wii U and it's barely been used for more than two hours at most.

It isn't required. It's dependent on whether the developer wants to incorporate streaming/sharing. If it is required, then it will be there, and only will depend on what is required, and how far the developer will go with that. Kinda like XBLA games are REQUIRED to have a demo, so you know that every single XBLA game will have a demo; whereas PSN titles, it's a coin flip. That depends on whether the developer wants to include the cost of cutting a demo, download traffic, etc., in the budget of the game. Developer-dependent.
