What 2nd cpu? I thought it was 2 cpus for processing plus a special chip for downloading.
Games are like woman, what you might find attractive I might not, and none of us know if we really like them untill we have played around with them for a while.

I bet ms have someone right now making a plastic box with the words `backwards compatibility` written in white marker, which will then be strategically placed so as to be seen when the next xbox is finally unveiled. I`m on you like a cheap fuckin suit ms!!.

No wow factor. Most, if not all, demos shown could be done today on the PS3. If I paraphrase the cloud stuff then they are saying all the cool stuff will come out during the life cycle of the console. I bet none of the innovative bit is ready at launch. Not doing it at day one reduces developers coding for it both now, and later. This is why psn has lagged behind Live for an entire generation. Sorry to be a skeptic but I remember the huge excitement in these forums around PS Home which took years to arrive properly and which, as they say, the rest is history.

All in all it was a buzzword laden snooze fest. I hope we see something truly amazing before launch.

    why so down Sparc?

personally i think they've done themselves a solid. they showed just enough to whet the appetite. an excellent launch.
they've no doubt saved the console and some of the 'wow factor' elements for E3

otherwise, what would they show at E3. the other companies would walk all over them

Just dont say anything like "this can be done on PS3" or "not much of a upgrade" and we will call it even.

    Damn straight I was!

Haven't seen anything yet which is tempting me to part with money on day 1. Everyone is saying 'wait for E3' - okay, let's do that, but those of you who've been here for some years will remember the aged old "wait for..." statements that plagued these forums for years (Wait for Haze, wait for Home, wait for Lair, Wait for <any one of a million other wait for statements>)

But there is about 9 or 10 months before launch, that's a long time. Sony would have shot themselves in the foot if it had revealed all its cards now. I personally think what was revealed was awesome and enough; we learned the specs, some features, DualShock 4 and games in development, and E3 is only 4 months away. I'm not sure if asking us to wait four months for the next flood of info is too unreasonable...ESPECIALLY when we have so much badass gaming in the next few months to keep us occupied.

This is the crux of it. Sony are giving developers a lot of freedom here, a lot of responsibility.

However you have to assume that most of the features they spoke about are at the OS level and thus over the developers heads. We'll see.

I loved everything shown today. Absolutely blew me away. I'm not really sure if I saw the same event as all the debby downers are going on about. It's like they were expecting nothing less than photorealistic graphics and a console that would jack them off in the morning when they wake up.

Mostly what excites me is how far they are trying to show that they are willing to bend over backwards for developers to make their experience making games for our console as easy, friendly, and effectively as possible. Microsoft from what I have gathered has always been rather hard to deal with and imposes a lot of restrictions upon developers on their console. This only means that now with a system easy to code for (unlike ps3) we as gamers will be reaping many many benefits throughout the PS4's lifetime.

There will always be people that are never satisfied regardless of what is shown and then there are those that have other reasons for being "disappointed"(not saying that applies to anyone here).

Almost but actually what we want is a console that doesn't fuck you up the arse when you outlay $400-500 on it. So, similar, but subtly different.

Which is what you are getting with the PS4. The specs are beyond what was expected and will offer far more for $400-$500 than anything else currently on the market.

Yeah the PS3 had eye wateringly impressive specs when it launched. Specs mean very little to me - show me the games, show me the capability, show me something that makes me immediately say "Shit the bed! No console can do that today!" then I'll join you on the bandwagon.

Btw, just to be clear, I have even LARGER reservations with what Microsoft will be doing (subject to them actually telling us, just my guess where it's going) and so the PS4 could be my make or break decision as to whether I leave the world of console gaming. Therefore these woolly, buzzword, presentations don't float my boat much.

You are not going to get games that are "Shit the bed! No console can do that today!" 9+ months from release and from the first round of games. Engines have to be updated, game have to be polished, developers have to crease assets, etc. The specs and past experience alone are indicative that games are going to start looking much better than what we have seen so far. The good news is that this may happen fast than the PS3 thanks to it being much easier to develop for.

That said the games still look very impressive for this early on and if you look into the little details (such as the amount of physics effects/ lighting, draw distance, etc. going on in the Killzone trailer) you will realize that it is not possible on current consoles.

The games will come just as they have with the PS3. The PS4 launch is already looking much better than the PS3's was, if even half of these games are released at or near launch.

I'm not seeing what is going to "fuck you up the arse" though. I am going to simply guess that I'm looking at this from a different standpoint. For me, it's all about the games. I don't really mind having or not having the share button, gaikai services, cloud saving ect... I never even used Xbox live this whole gen. Other than being able to play online (which I think should be free) it didn't offer me anything I felt I wanted to have or would enhance my gaming.

I think the issue here is you're looking for the console to wow you with the best add on features while I am looking for the console to wow me with the best games. I would pay the $500 gladly to play those games which I think is silly to think they can be done on the PS3. The level of detail in the environments and textures I don't see capable on either current console.

On the PS3, I was admittedly excited for home at 1st but it didn't take me long to realize it was just a dumb gimmick. Speaking of dumb gimmicks, I'm on board for thinking the touch pad is going to be another lame Sixaxis ordeal that wont get much if any support. I don't really think I would use the Share button on the controller at all either, but I may lurk on my friends playing and mock them as they play from time to time.

After saying all that though, I can't help but feel very excited for the Gaikai services, most importantly, the ability to play games while they are still downloading. That feature alone will make me buy a PSworld subscription once it is available if not on launch.
