That Jaguar is a failed AMD mobile CPU for tablets. The answer has to be IBM and Nvidia bid too high and AMD was the lowest bidder. The super GPU sounds like a consolized 7850. But, it also makes huge economic sense for Sony and the business reality is that all development and tools, as well as engines, are on the PC in the first place, so having an x86 architecture is a huge savings in development cost as well as cost to market for the hardware. It is a new Kazified Sony, although it looks like he has been letting House do the management of the Playstation division. The other rather startling fact is the lead systems architect is American, not Japanese. So, have to give it to Stringer, he has been keeping this guy totally unknown and incognito for at least 4 years and sounding like possibly 6 years. Don't know which was supposed to be the bigger news. Pretty sure now, that multi-media accelerator daughter chip is the Cell-Evo, that Toshiba is using in their UltraHD TV's. So, the CPU, the GPU and the MMU all have access to the same 8GB GDDR5 unified memory. The CPU sounds underpowered and the GPU is already last generation for PC's, the MMU may be the wild card to making this a powerhouse for several years. But it shows this is the new Sony. This is not a 10 year console.

They will be able to turn a profit faster with this design though, and if they keep with the x86 architecture then future PlayStations will easily be able to be upgraded throughout the years maintaining full backwards compatibility and we can start to expect new generations every 5-6 years again instead of this 7-8 year stuff.

What is there to decide about? Why wouldn't you want the content to transfer over?
I posted an article. If that article is factually incorrect, then that is the fault of whoever wrote and published it, not mine.
What I can essentially guarantee you is that pretty much all xbl content bought on the 360 will transfer over to the next xbox. Which is how it should be since that is the point of a unified online system.
It is a bit disturbing that sony hasn't decided yet when we are fairly close to launch.

None of the PSN games, etc. will transfer over to the new machine, it will play used games, doesn't need an always connection internet connection...that's about it! Oh, and the developers didn't know about the 8GB until last night either, so all those demos, etc. were based off of 4GB!
