The very first time I ever seen the ability to challenge someone online, was Mortal Kombat 4 in the arcade. This was back in 1997, and I never knew this was possible. I was 17yrs old, and I did not own a PC. I went to the arcade (arcades were pretty big back then) and I noticed that Mortal Kombat 4 had this network play service. I tossed in my quarters and I experienced my very first network battle.
At the time, I thought this was the most amazing thing I every experienced. How could I be fighting against someone I can not even see?????
Do you remember your first online gaming experience?

It was the year 2000 and my uncle had just given me Unreal Tournament. We had many LAN game in the past with 4 or 5 of us playing in his computer room but never before had i played online. When i went home he told me somethings i had to type in (IP Address) and told me i would be able to play with him even when I was at my desktop back home.
It was like witchcraft. I couldn't believe it. It was the best, and worst day of my life at the same time. From that moment on, gaming was never the same and Dark Wolf (my UT Alias for several years) was born. I can't play shooters against the computer or bots any more.
After playing in a Clan for 6 years i decided enough was enough and sold my computer as it was the only way i could prevent myself playing.I Like Games.

Starsiege: Tribes back in 1998 for my PC, I had just got a cable modem! I had a friend show it to me and being online with so many other people like that just amazed me! Between that first one and Tribes 2 I spent so much time online!

Network LAN was 97 or 98 with Duke 3D, at the time I did not have a PC so it ws up to my other friends to sort it all out 2 of which were IT engineers one of which when I ask him what he does he always replies "I do lots of geeky things with computers" and since at that time I knew bugger all about computers I just left it all to them to set it all up.
I had obviously played many multiplayer games on consoles but they were all split screen but this was new we had a "huge" 17" (back then it was huge) full screen each and I loved it even though I sucked.
We progressed Duke to Carmageddon to Grand theft and to eventually Half life.
And Half life is my first ever online multiplayer experience I played it at my friends house his handle was "eardrum"
I eventually got a PC in 2003 but with lagtastic (100 ping minimum) 56k dialup which I racked up a small fortune playing HL1 online so subscribed for £15 per month for 150 hours which I used up well before the month ended and due to my constant over use BT upgraded me to broadband for free so I was still paying £15 when people were paying £25+ for the same 512Kbit (50KB/sec) download speed.
TLDR
LAN = Duke 3D
Online = Half-Life Deathmatch just before Steam released

Call of Duty 4
Still to this day my favorite online experience ever.
Although I have played games all my life I took a huge break in the middle and came back just in time to get in to CoD4, at the time I bought it I had no idea what I was getting myself in to. I hadn't played a Call of Duty game ever before, I only bought it cause I seen it on display in a store and played it for about an hour in that store before deciding just to buy it and stop bothering the staff lolSteam ID: satchgear

Smackdown vs. Raw (2005) First time ever online at home
Call of Duty 4: Logical Warfare (Best Online Shooter of All-time) was my first shooting experience.
I'll be forever grateful to the people who put me on this game!

Yes... Never saw the need with it. When I had the orginal Xbox it was to challenging for me to try to run a cord all around my place to try to get internet capabilities to it so I said screw it.
Why ask a question like that when I already gave a definate answer to already. Is it so hard to believe that I like Warhawk that much or that it was my first online game?? Either way YES..
Holy shit man I never thought I would have to give so many answer to my first online gamw
