There was a rumor it would be called the Omni a few months ago...
http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread...highlight=omni
That rumor also said there would be an 'Omniviewer' that you would wear...
The key is the Omniviewer, a thin, lite and slick head mounted autosteroptic display that can track the users head and presents a 360 image view with semi transparent AMOLED screens. This can turn any TV into a 3D TV, as well as add extra augmented reality information outside of the TV screen. One application from an entertainment perspective seeing movies in 2k, 4k or IMAX resolutions as their original size where you have to move your head to look at the full picture being displayed.

Japan is most known for their "tradition", not "superstition". Now bring on the Playstation 4!!!!!!!

I think the Japanese would rather game over caring about superstitions.

Seriously, guys, think about this for a minute. If the number 4 was such a bad omen then why do Japanese game developers continue to sell their games with said number in the title? Persona 4, as an example...
I'm pretty sure the number 13 is considered bad luck or whatever here in the states and it doesn't affect our daily lives. Sony might be based in Japan but it's not the only place they turn a profit.Last edited by Blacksite; 02-20-2013 at 08:16.

Well i have looked into it and studied it really hard, I researched all the history of the Sony products over the years and studied were they evolved their names and were the knowledge on how they came up with their names and what they actually mean..
Some are harder to get my head around, because they mean more of a personal meaning to the company.. I have studied the staff and TOP DOGS of the company.. Done background checks on how they came up with BETA names and stand alone names that stick out for the company...
I have re-looked at the sales on the power with names that appeal with the consumer and the STOCK MARKET, and the appeal of adverts they produce and what a reaction their name gets when a person see's it
I remember as a child that they had this unique ability to get my attention for the most smallest thing and i would be glued to the T.V every time their adverts would come on...
So looking at all this and getting into to the hard studying of how they MARKET a name, i have come to a conclusion and that is

At some point the numbers have to stop because you can't have a PS6 or PS7 that is weird. I wouldn't mind if it was called Orbis or Omni.

This is something people seem to forget. Sony can't just keep increasing the number for each console. Look how silly Final Fantasy's names are becoming.
So they might as well start using different names now, and with the Vita not being called the PSP2, I think Sony will give their next console a similar Latin name. Orbis or Omni.
But then again, the Vita isn't selling well...

I think they'll call it the PS4. However, if they call it the PS Orbis or some other name, people will still call it the PS4.
